It was a calm night for Sunny as it slowly rocked on the gentle and calm sea. The ship was quiet since most of the straw hat crew were asleep. That is except for the quiet sniffling coming from the navigator's room.

The person whose quiet tears belonged to was the ship's captain, Monkey D Luffy; this was because even an emperor can have nightmares. After all, no matter how strong you are, no one can escape the pain from those deceitful but painful dreams.

The nightmare was the same one that woke him up every night after marineford and was still suffering from even after Wano. The nightmare consisted of a dead Ace berating Luffy with insults calling him weak and pathetic and telling him that Luffy was someone he regrets saving and that he despised; that he called someone as pathetic as him a brother. It then switched to every single one of his crew from the order of first to last to join, all saying that they would have been happier if he was dead.

To say this hurt him would be an understatement since as much as he tried, Nami knew something wasn't right after wano, so when she heard him crying on the sunny head, she couldn't ignore it, especially after she listened to what happened in these nightmares.

She offered him comfort, and as much as Luffy wanted to deny it, he excepted as long as Nami never told a soul because he didn't want his crew to lose faith in him or abandon him because of this weakness. Even if Nami knew not a single crew member would ever look down on him for being human, she excepted.

So that leads us to where we are now, with Luffy finally calming down and talking to Nami until he feels calm enough to go back to bed. Nami just listened to him and comforted him with small loving rubs on his back and telling him that she would never leave his side and even confusing her true feelings of love for the captain, not expecting a response.

After calming and thanking Nami with a hug and standing in the doorway about to leave, he said one last thing to her before leaving, "I'm glad it's you, Nami, because honestly, I never would have been able to be who I am today if I didn't have you by my side so thank you for loving me and I Love You too."

Nami could tell from his small smile he knew exactly what he was saying. After that, Nami couldn't stop herself from pulling him back in with a warm kiss to his lips before the night of sorrow had turned into a night and passion and love for the Navigator and Captain of the Thousand Sunny.
