Chapter 3-The Short Cut

August's POV- I could tell by the expression on Emily's face that she was scared and fearful to go the short cut way.

" Seriously? Through the woods? The same woods that a kid got shot in last year?"

I laughed and pushed my blue hair out of my face.

" That, was just a rumor! Who knows if it's true."

" It's better to be safe than sorry!"

I patted Emily's shoulder. I could tell she was flipping out.

" Ok. We'll go the long way. But we could get there a little late when it's dark out so if so, you can't blame me."

" So it's settled."
