Chapter 4- Chatting Chums
The next morning, I had actually woken up when my alarm clock went off. Strange, I know.
I walked downstairs after changing into my clothes and I set my book bag down on one of the chairs around the table.I picked up a piece of bread and put it in the toaster. I put my headphones in my ears as I began listening to the music on my phone. Humming along, I didn't realize my mom was calling me. She pulled my headphones out and gave me a slight glare. "Michelle. We need to hurry up if I'm driving you to school today."
I gave her a little wave, "Nah. I'll just walk today, I'll go right after my toast finishes." As if on cue, the toaster gave a 'ding' signaling it was done. I smiled at her and picked up my toast. "Bye mom!" I shouted through the house as I inched to the door.
"Bye Michelle! Have a good day at school." She yelled back. I heard the keys jingle before I shut the door.
I pulled out my phone and texted Clara.
Hey Clara.
I waited for her response, while walking down the street, nearing the same ice cream stand that I passed yesterday.
What's up bitch.
I chuckled at her unnecessary, and not to mention, colorful vocabulary. As I was just about to text back, my phone made a 'ding' noise, similar to the one the toaster made.
Hey! I know this web site that you should check out after school!
I confusedly tilted my head, but responded nonetheless.
What's it called?
She responded almost immediately.
Chatting Chums
That sounded familiar, but I couldn't quite place it.
I'll check it out then.
She, once again, responded almost immediately.
I see you.
I looked around and spotted Clara sitting on one of the table seats in front of the school. I walked up and smiled.
"Well, that was certainly creepy." She laughed and I sat down beside her. "So what's the chatting chums site about?" I questioned.
"That's only the most talked about thing in school since this morning." She said, excitement laced in her voice.
"And you thought I would know about this how?" I let out a small laugh. She shrugged before going back into explanation.
"So anyway, it's this website where people can get together and chat. There's even personalized chat rooms for some schools. Ours is on there." Once she finished, another figure walked up to us.
"Hey Annalise." I greeted as Annalise sat down beside me.
"Have you guys heard of the chatting site yet?" She said excitedly. I sighed.
"Yes, Annalise. That's what Clara here just got done talking about." I said motioning toward Clara, who waved to Annalise.
Annalise nodded before pulling out a book. "I'll see you guys in class, I have to turn in this book to the library." I responded with a simple 'okay.' Before she walked off.
Clara was searching for something on her phone. When she found it, she excitedly showed me. "Look! They even created an app for it." Once she said that, she snatched my phone and downloaded it. "Here, I'll create an account for you." She typed something in and handed my phone back.
