" - Lady Laena is taken by childbirth, my prince." The handmaiden keeps her head low, trying not to stare at the woman beside him. Daemon's lips turned thin at the notion - too many women lost in childbirth. His hands snake around Saera's waist, holding her close in fear that she'd leave him. "You are dismissed," he looks at the servant, before returning his full attention to his lover.

"We have lost more women to childbirth than disease and famine." he gritted his teeth, angered that another Valyrian woman suffered under the hands of Maesters. "Poor Laena," she sighs, leaning into his embrace.

Laena was her friend - and they'd always be together when she visited the Capital. She was a fiery spirit that sought to set the realm ablaze with her fire. She was married to a sea-lord in braavos. He died a few months ago - leaving her two daughters, and a heavy stomach. "I assume that we'll be in Driftmark in a few days," he breaths - happy at the thought of riding his dragon.

"Lady Laena is Rhaenyra's good-sister, father wouldn't risk not being in Lord Corlys' good graces." she responds, burying her face in the crook of his neck. " - Rhaenyra was stupid to bed a man who looked nothing like her or her husband." Daemon rolled his eyes, avoiding the fact that his children were bastards too.

For a second, he understood why Rhaenyra and Harwin loved their strong boys. Children of one's blood and the fruit of one's love always held a spot in a person's heart - but he couldn't excuse the treachery and shame they brought upon House Targaryen.

"It is hard to find a healthy Valyrian boy, kepus." she teases while playing with his silver locks. " - and I don't like sharing."

Laena's funeral was a solemn affair - only close family and allies were allowed to attend. Saera would have offered her condolences if it weren't for Lord Vaemond's snide remarks about her husband's fidelity. She held her ground, watching while Laena was thrown into the sea.

"What is your name?" she reaches for the girl's hands, ignoring the prying gazes of the guests. "Baela," the girl replies, staring deep into the older woman's eyes. "I'm sorry about your mother," Saera comforted, and the girl leaned into her embrace - wrapping her arms around the Princess.

"You are a strong girl," she smiles, rising to her feet.

It was late at night when someone came knocking on Saera and Harwin's chambers. "Open the door," she groans - shaking him awake. He rolled the sheets over his head, pretending that he didn't hear anything. "Harwin." she says firmly and with a scary voice. He stands up, groggily walking towards the door. "What requires our attention at this late hour?" he complains, eyes closed while he converses with the handmaiden.

"There was a commotion with the Princes, my lord. The Queen requires your presence." the servant informs.

Daegon hides behind his mother - his kepa does his best to console him. "He has maimed my son!" The Queen yells from the tops of her lungs - glaring daggers into the figure of Saera's son. Baela looks down, but keeps her hand resting upon Saera's. "I hardly believe that a child of nine is capable of maiming his uncle." Saera defends, "But he has!" Alicent reprimands.

" - and do you have any proof of that?" Saera questions, not wanting any punishment to be levied against her son. "My son was ambushed. Five of them and only one of him. The only proof I have is his maimed eye, which he tells me came from your boy!" Alicent glares.

"We didn't ambush him. H-he tried to kill me when we asked him about Vhagar." Daegon stuttered and Daemon pulled him back, creating a wall between his son and possible enemies. "Kill? My son is incapable of killing." Alicent defends, lips shaking as she realizes that Aemond was crippled.

" - but he tried to do it, didn't you Aemond?" Rhaenyra raised her voice. Gods be damned if she didn't take her sister's side after betraying her. "Silence," Alicent bemoaned - turning her head to her husband, who was dutifully comforting Alyssa. "My husband, my king - your son is maimed." she pleaded, eyes brimming with tears.

Alicent, you are alone.

" - and what would you have me do? The damage is already done." Viserys replied, patting his granddaughter's head. "Aemond must learn from this encounter. We are family, we must forgive each other." he cleared his throat, and Alicent's eye darkens as she realizes that no one would heed her pains.

"Ser Criston, bring me the eye of Prince Daegon." she commands, but the knight doesn't move. They were surrounded by gold-cloaks, Ser Harwin and Prince Daemon would kill him before he could even make a move.

"You will do, no such thing!" Daemon raged, raising to his full height and drawing the dark sister. "I will kill you, you cunt." he cursed at the Queen. No one will harm his son - kingdom be damned. "I am here to protect you, my queen - not to harm a member of the family." Ser Criston doesn't move. Daegon was his pupil - dedicated and sweet, melting the cold heart of Ser Criston.

Alicent took a deep breath - maddened at the sight of her son hurting. She reaches for Viserys' Valyrian dagger, lunging at Prince Daegon but Saera stands in her way. Members of the Kingsguard began barring the gold-cloaks and Prince Daemon from making any moves.

"You've gone too far. I understand you Alicent - but it cannot come down to this." Saera beseeches, and Alicent continues aiming her dagger at the Princess. Daemon attempts to fight through three of the Kingsguards, but he stops as he realizes that the room was thrown into chaos and that Alyssa was in trouble. "I have gone too far? When I have done nothing but what was expected of me? Forever upholding the kingdom, the family, the law, while you and your sister parade and do as you please." she spat.

Daemon sprints in Alyssa's direction, making sure to hand her to a member of the gold-cloak before running to Saera's defense. Ser Criston holds him back, and he points the dark sister at the knight. "Where is duty? Where is sacrifice? Must you abuse it all the time." she yells, earning a laugh from Saera. "Abuse it? You are the one who blocks peace in our household. Denying a betrothal between Princess Helaena and Prince Jace. You have abused your power, and my patience is long spent." she gritted her teeth, and Alicent slid her dagger down the Princess' forearm, allowing blood to coat her gowns.

A chorus of gasps erupt inside the room - the fight momentarily stops. They watched the Queen injure the Princess. "Now they see you for the monster that you truly are." she finished, and Daemon pushed Alicent away - falling into the ground with a loud thud. The dagger clinks as it falls unto the ground.

Aemond was blind, and his mother was maddened.

Daemon began to inspect her wound - eyes darkened and murder on his mind. The blood kept flowing and even Viserys was worried. "Bring a Maester!" the King demanded - quick to sit beside his daughter. Daegon rests his head on Saera's lap, holding his left eye - wondering what it would feel like to lose it.

"I will kill your wife." Daemon threatens, anger pumping through his veins like ichor. "She wanted to hurt Daegon, brother. Think of what could've happened if we weren't here." Daemon insinuates, venom dripping from his every word. Alicent should thank the heavens that Saera was injured - if she wasn't then, he'd be marching in her direction - slaying her and leaving her body for the dogs.

"I apologize for her behavior. Repercussions will come in due time, but Saera's safety should be our utmost priority." Viserys replies, holding the wound in place so that the blood wouldn't seep out.

That was the very moment Daemon realized that Viserys knew.

The king knew that all of his grandchildren were bastards.

"You should return to Dragonstone for the meantime." The King added. Saera opens her mouth to speak, " - you may come." he smiled, and the Maester rushes to sew her wound.
