Narrator's Pov
Fair warning; this story does not have the happiest of beginnings. In fact, quite the opposite. It starts rather sad. But rest assured, it will get better in time.
Our story begins sixteen years ago in an alley. The night was cold and so was the small blue hedgehog left alone in said alley. His name is Zonic and he's had a pretty rough life, which is saying something, as he's only four years old. His parents, for reasons that are still unknown, didn't want him, they never did. They ignored him all the time. If they noticed him at all, it was to yell at or hurt him. They would take any and all of their frustrations out on him. Most nights, he would end up crying himself to sleep.
He thought today would be different when they told him they had a surprise for him. They brought him to the alley and told him they would be right back. He waited and waited and waited for his parents' return, but they never came. Still he waited for them, hoping they would. Now it was night, and he was cold, alone, and scared.
Fortunately, as fate would have it, he wouldn't be alone much longer. Two hedgehogs had just arrived home, and they heard the little one's sobs and came to help him. Zonic was scared at first, but went with them once he realized they wanted to help. They took him home, warmed him up, and asked him what happened. When they heard all the horrible things he went through, their minds were made up; they decided to adopt him. From that day on, Zonic had what he always wanted; parents who loved him.
