Walking. That's what we were doing right now. Just walking. We've been walking for days it seamed like even though the sun hadn't set yet. The skitters were leading and protecting us until we reach our destination. The mechs noises were sounding all around us as they led us.
I didn't really like the mechs all that much. They were loud and every time we find someone to save they kill them. Their footsteps shook the ground and they were always on alert.
Hurry along now
The order rocked my brain and and I began to walk faster. The rest of my group or siblings did as well. We always listened to our parent skitter no matter what they asked of us. Wether it was to move one certain type of material or to drag the bodies of our weaker siblings away. It didn't matter. We were good. We listened.
Everything from before I met my friend was the same. I remember my old father Tom. My old mother Rebecca. And my brothers Hal and Matt. They however are inferior to my new family. Or that's what I'm told anyways. The skitters tell us that they are our new family and all we should be focused on is helping them and loving them. I must say it feels nice to comply with what they say. No more thinking. No hard decisions that we have to make. They make all the decisions for us! It's nice just being told what to do. It is. It really is.
Part of me though knows it's wrong. Part of me knows that everything I'm doing is wrong. That my old family is better than my new one. That I want to be free from the harness and the skitters. That my family is probably out there and they are worried for me more than any skitter ever could!
That part of me is silenced however when a pulse of warmth is jetted through me. It starts at the harness then makes my brain slightly fuzzy. Then it's all I love you again. The skitters are my family and I would do anything for my family.
