(A/N: I am dedicating this Chapter to @JacquelineRivera984 or being the reason Ethan ended up with Chris. I put a vote in one of my other books while I was deciding what to do plot-wise and she was the only person who voted. Luckily for Chris, she chose 1. I cannot be more grateful that she accidentally pushed me in this direction.)
Chapter 58: Epilogue
"I think that's the last of it," Ethan announced, groaning as he placed the last box on the floor near his office. Sighing, he leaned against the doorway, looking around the office space. It was a small space. The lobby and entrance would comfortably fit only five people, twenty if they squeezed. There was enough space for the main office, a meeting room, the breakroom, and the main workspace for Ethan's employees. Yet, despite being small, it was a big step up from working out of his condo.
Shortly after getting engaged, Ethan moved in with Chris. But instead of immediately renting out his old place, he turned it into his office instead. It was the address that he gave to clients and it was where he and Logan worked for the past year. But over time, after expanding their client base and hiring 3 more full-time employees, the condo became too small for their company.
Sterling Consulting was expanding and their new office space proved as much.
Logan came out of the bathroom, not having any qualms about breaking the toilet in, and scanned all of the boxes and tables.
"Is this the part where we have to unpack everything?" He asked a brow raised uncertainly at the space. "Because I felt like I already shaved a few years off of my life while bringing this stuff up."
Ethan laughed, shaking his head at Logan's nerve-driven question.
"No, we can leave that for tomorrow. It's starting to get late and these boxes do not need overtime."
A few of his other employees who'd been in the break room overheard the announcement and cheered, the sound of high-fives reaching Ethan's ear.
"Did you do that for us or so you could have more time with your fiance?" Logan asked, earning a bright flush to emerge from Ethan's cheeks.
"You literally say that whenever I do anything," Ethan complained, huffing while he crossed his arms. "And yes I also happen to want to spend my evening with Chris and not sorting through files I see every other day of the week."
"I can't blame you for that," Logan shrugged. He briefly checked his pockets and after confirming he had all the essentials, made his leave. "I'll be heading out. See you tomorrow, boss."
"Bye, Logan."
As Logan was the senior most member on the team after Ethan and always had that cool, trendsetter vibe to him, the rest of the team followed soon after he went. Although he told them that unpacking would begin tomorrow, Ethan did take some more time to start the process. He pulled out his desktop and began the process of getting it hooked up. Once the system continuously made him aware of the lack of WiFi, he also had to get the modem connected and working.
With everything hooked up, Ethan decided to look through some work emails before going. It was awkward since he didn't have his chair yet, but Ethan crouched as comfortably as he could. He was pleased to see that two new clients waiting for them to be settled into their new office so they could work together. A particularly fond smile settled on his face when he found an email from Muhammed who, based on someone's strong recommendation, wanted Ethan to come back to do a check-up on Puma's internal systems.
Chris had kept his promise about supporting Ethan's company. And that was one of many. One of the first things they did as an engaged couple was have a zoom call with Chris's parents. Since Chris always took great pains to keep Ethan away from them during high school, this was the first time he would be meeting them. The older couple still lived in Toronto so they could have met them in person, but Chris insisted on making it a call instead, and Ethan was incredibly glad that he did.
