Basil's POV
It's been 45 minutes since I woke up. My alarm had went off extremely early today for some reason. I wonder why. Polly wasn't awake yet, so I figured I'd make some breakfast for us. It was just me and Polly now since my grandma had passed, but we made the best of our time with each-other. Though she had been acting very different lately. I could feel the stress in her voice.. so I had to do something. When I opened the fridge for some eggs, there sadly wasn't any. I closed the fridge, a bit upset. I decided I wasn't going to give up on making breakfast for Polly and I, so I grabbed my phone and checked the temperature.

'It seems to be pretty cold outside.' I thought to myself. I headed back to my room and picked out something to wear. I had grabbed a t-shirt and a sage green sweater, followed by a pair of jeans. It wasn't much, but it would do. I put everything on and placed my phone in my pocket. It didn't seem to be the right choice though, because I could hear every little notification from the group chat. Or at least that's what I thought it was. I decided I was going to turn my phone on silent. When I picked it up, my face turned a light shade of pink after reading one of the messages.

Sunny: Hey Basil

Sunny: I was wondering if you wanted to hang out later today?

Sunny: It's been awhile since we've had time to ourselves..

Sunny: Like old times.

Yeah sure! :Basil

That sounds great. :Basil

I was overjoyed that Sunny asked me to hang out.. and alone too! It had been forever since we spent time alone.. 'Was it because I'm too awkward around him sometimes?' I continued to think to myself. Moments later, I realized I should probably go out to Othermart before Polly wakes up. I don't want her to be up before I get back with the eggs.

. . .

. . .

The breeze whispered through my hair. It felt nice paired with my thoughts.. in which were all about Sunny—as usual. The streets were quiet. Occasionally, a car would pass by. It was a little cold when they passed, but I could handle it. I decided to try and clear my mind of the boy I loved dearly, and think about what I needed from this peculiar grocery store.

'Bacon and Eggs..'
'Bacon and Eggs..'
'Bacon and Eggs..'
'Bacon and Eggs..'

. . .

I repeated that in my head for about 3 minutes. I'm known to be pretty forgetful.. if only I had a memory like Sunny's.. his memory was perfect, just like everything about him. He didn't think he was perfect, but I knew he was in every way possible.. "get it together Basil" I muttered under my breath. I had finally made it to the door of othermart. They had opened about 45 minutes ago. Thank god I hadn't come earlier. I mean, it was only 7:27 in the morning after all. I made my way to the eggs, and ended up forgetting about the bacon. The second trip back in for it was a bit embarrassing to me, but the cashier didn't seem to notice. In fact, they all had seemed half-sleep. I mean, I don't understand how people can do this at 7 in the morning anyway.

. . .

It was much brighter on the walk home. I hummed to myself, carefully holding the eggs hoping not to drop them.. like last time. Once I had made my way back home, it was about 8:00 AM. Polly usually gets up at 8:45, so I had time. I got my keys out and fiddled around for the right one. When I had found it, I put it in and turned.

The door opened to silence. That wasn't a change. I took off my shoes, then made my way to the kitchen and set everything down. While I was cooking, the thought of hanging out with Sunny made my thoughts go wild. I couldn't get the boy out of my head. All of this was so new.. I mean, I was never the one to fall in love.. but it seems 'he' has changed everything about that statement..

Once everything was all done, cooked, and fully set up, I decided to wake up Polly. She had slept about 10 minutes later than usual. She probably needed a break. I mean, I understand it. She works a lot and barely ever takes any breaks for herself. I have a subtle knock at first so I didn't scare her—even though I probably wouldn't—and then entered. She was sitting on her bed. It seemed she'd woken up already. "Oh, Good morning Basil.." she said with a yawn. I responded enthusiastically, "Good morning Polly! How did you sleep?" "Good, thank you!" She responded. That seemed to brighten her mood a bit. "I made breakfast so you didn't have to.. you can come out when you're ready!" I continued, with a smile. "Oh Basil, you didn't have to..! You're practically doing my job for me.." Polly said. She seemed grateful, yet at the same time she sounded like she felt bad. "No, No!" I insisted. "You've done so much for me.. AND you've been working really hard lately. You really need a break, so you should take one." I insisted once more. Polly seemed to really enjoy that. "Thank you Basil! That's so sweet of you to think about me like that. We should go eat now, we don't want the food to get cold-" she said, trailing off a bit at the end. "Ah! You're right- let's go eat then." I finished
