"So- colddd~"

Emu shivered. The school's AC had frozen over on the coldest day of the year! Even though Emu had a jacket, she was still oh so cold. She was walking around the school looking for a warm place to eat when she spotted Mafuyu eating outside on a bench, all alone.

Without a thought, Emu ran outside and gave Mafuyu the biggest hug ever. But to Emu's dismay, Mafuyu didn't hug back or giggle like she usually would. Mafuyu gently pushed Emu away without saying a word. She just quickly smiled and turn away to eat her soup.

Emu knew the smile wasn't real as usual, but something was off about this smile. It looked upset but didn't look angry or sad.

Emu didn't know what was bothering Mafuyu, but she wasn't about to leave her in the cold! Hugs always made Emu feel better, so she squeezed Mafuyu as much as she could, but nothing seemed to work.

She was still making that dull smile. Emu slumped down in defeat and stirred her soup. Mafuyu noticed Emu slumping. Mafuyu has never seen Emu like this. It puzzled her

"what could have Otori Emu feeling down?"

Mafuyu cocked her head to the side and looked a little closer, yes that was it!

"Oh... she's cold."

Mafuyu wrapped her arms around Emu. She pushed Emu to be as close as possible to her so she could get as warm as achievable.

Emu's face turned a simmering red, Mafuyu hugging Emu all on her own with no push from Emu whatsoever was a rare sight and something she never could have expected!

Emu hugged Mafuyu back tightly. Mafuyu must have been hugging her to make her feel better! What other reason could there be?

The bell rang, which meant it was time to head back to class. The two let go of each other and packed up their lunches they didn't get to eat. Emu finished packing her lunch first, but just when she was about to leave, Mafuyu stopped her by grabbing her on the wrist.

"Here, take this."

Mafuyu handed Emu her jacket.

"But won't you be cold?"

"I'll be fine"

Mafuyu insisted Emu take the jacket, and eventually she did.

"Thank you..."

Emu smiled, looking down at the black jacket.

Mafuyu found this out of character for Emu but figured that it must have been the cold. Emu quickly ran off to class after this, but not before quickly saying bye to Mafuyu.

Emu ran down the halls with the black jacket in hand. But she didn't need to put it on because she already felt so warm inside.

No words could describe how happy she was.
