I woke up the next morning and stretched. I checked and noticed that Robin had left. I went and did my daily routine, before going downstairs to eat breakfast."Mom?" I asked, noticing that she wasn't there. I proceeded to wonder around until I heard yelling coming from somewhere. I Immediately rushed to where the sound was coming from, just to find myself in the dungeon under the castle. Robin was in a cell and was trying to get out.
"Let him go!" I shouted. The guards and Robin looked at me.
"What? Do you know this boy?" A guard asked.
"Yes, he is a person I can select to marry. Now let him go!" I shouted. I noticed Robin's face fluster.
"But he was in your bedroom." Another guard said.
"I dont care! I invited him. Now let him go immediately!" I demanded. The guards finally complied and let Robin and I off with a warning.Me and Robin were now walking to the front doors of the castle, and were currently in the foyer.
"So, uh, what did you mean by 'a person I can select to marry'?" He asked, looking down at me.
"That was to get you out. Now dont do anything stupid okay?" I said as we were now in the front garden.
"I make no promises I cannot keep." He chuckled before whistling. Down came a beautiful, golden brown Griffin with huge golden feathers wrapping around its neck, head, and upper spine. The Griffin also had an Emerald and Gold neclace around its neck. Its beak appeared to have a bit chipped off.
"Well, who is this?" I asked Robin.
"Its my pet Griffin. Tamed her all by myself. Her name is Athena." Robin said before climbing onto her back and hugging his arms around Athena's neck. He looked so small compared to the giant bird-like creature. I noticed her long tail, and went over to it.
"don't pull her tail! A Griffin's tail is one to never pull, y'know?" Robin said.
"Oh, really? And how would you know?" I said. I knew all about Griffins, as I had books about them.
"My dad, he was a Monsterologist." He said.
"Was?" I asked. He fell silent for a few seconds.
"...Well, he taught me all about them before he was poisoned by a Nue." He told me.
"Where was he?" I asked. I also had a book on Nues.
"He was on a mountain in Japan. It came over, and attacked his buddies. My dad never left his buddies, so he went to save them even though he could've ran with the rest of the group. He died from the poisonous smoke from the Nue trying to save them." Robin explained, clearly saddened.
"Oh, I'm sorry." I said. After a few moments of silence, Robin perked up.
"Well, see you around I guess?" He said.
"Yeah, see you around." I said before he flew off, a gust of wind almost pushing me over.I went inside and to my room, I sat down to read through a history book. I hoped to find some information on Robin's dad's death. I've been interested in the study of Monsterology, but being a heir to a throne makes that quite difficult. Especially because I'm an only child with a sickly mother. I continued flipping through the book, until I was left with a torn out page at the end that had always been torn out. I looked at the few words left on the part of the page that hadn't been torn out.
"A war...Arellano King...'Grabber'..."
I couldn't read anything else. It was all cut off or simply another vowel. I set the book down and went to the library of the castle to try and find anything with more information. After an hour or so of research, I found nothing. I decided to go wonder the kingdom, going to my room to change into my disguise clothes. I went over to my Telo, and tried to text Griffin, but I decided to just leave. Griffin is probably busy with his studies. I grabbed a pouch and a notebook along with a pencil, some books on Monsters, nature, and safety procedures, a Black Tourmaline crystal, a pocket knife, some water and food, and my Telo and shoved them all into it. I snuck out to explore outside of the castle.
Not too long later, I found a river. It looked kinda peaceful so I sat on a rock. I drank some of my water before I heard something. It sounded like a...Melody. It was soothing, but I felt drawn to it. I decided to carefully withdraw to pocket knife and carefully walk over to the source of the sound, it was coming from the western side of the river. I cautiously walked over and hid behind a tree when I saw a...Mermaid? No, thats a Siren. Sirens are way more dangerous. Wait, that Siren looks familiar...Is that the Finney kid? I moved to the side so I was visible to him. He noticed me and continued singing anyways, just slightly more shyly.
"Finney?" I asked.
"Y/n?" He asked, flustered. I took my notebook and pencil out and wrote down a sketch of how different he looked. His ears were longer and pointier, they were also an ombré of dark purple back to his skin tone.
"You never told me you were a siren." I said.
"W-well, not many people like Sirens..." He said, swimming over to the bank of the river. I moved over to the bank and sat there. Finney crawled out and He sat next to me and looked at my sketch of him. I only got everything but his face.
"Do you...do you like Sirens?" Finney asked me, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"Well, as long as you dont eat sailors like the rest, its okay." I said, slightly smiling. He slightly smiled back before we heard haste footsteps behind us. I felt myself get swooped up and being Carried bridal style. I looked and saw Prince Bruce's face."That is a Siren! They're dangerous!" He said.
"No! He isn't dangerous! I promise!" I said. Prince Bruce set me down, but pulls me into his chest as he withdraws a sword and points it at Finney. Finney jumps into the water and quickly swam away.
"Are you alright?" Prince Bruce asked.
"Yeah." I said, moving away from him.
"You sound familiar...Whats with the mask?" He asked, reaching to take it off. I moved his hand away. "You arent a criminal, are you?" He asked, moving towards me quickly. I moved in a way where he caught me in a dip. He smirked before removing my mask. He was shocked to see that it was me.
"Heir Y/n?" He asked.
"Don't tell anybody! Okay?" I said.
"What're you doing out here? Have you not heard?" He asked.
"Heard what...?" I asked.
"You know that kingdom that's run by the king nicknamed 'The Grabber' for causing war and conquering kingdoms?" He asked.
"I've...
'Grabber'
Yeah, I've heard of him." I said.
"Well, word has gone around that he has a plan to conquer this kingdom...Its dangerous for you to be out here. What if he takes you to conquer your kingdom?" He asked, moving a loose strand of my hair behind my hair for me.
"No, I havent heard that. Thanks for telling me." I said as he set me up so I could stand on my own. After a goodbye, he left. I looked to where Finney swam. I sighed."I have a very bad feeling..."
