Her breath would hitch shakily if it could due to her ever growing fear of the sudden unknown that was coming upon her as she stared at the disturbance in the water like state that was death. It felt like this being should not have been unto her in the first place, a sense of dread and urgency growing within her self was already there and self evident upon her mind as she stared into the darkness. The black void remained despite this odd tremors upon her void, with her unable to spot even the hint of a possible light at all....was it just her mere imagination?
Those thoughts stopped as the lack of light had suddenly became an abundance of it. What was once a dark void became a white light that slowly formed itself at the end of her vision, like she was standing upon the end of a tunnel as day broke from the darkness of night. She stared at it in a mix of relief and terror, her unable to fathom what exactly was there to disturb her supposed alone time and peace.
As the light drew close, it slowly lead to the shadow of a woman, one cloaked in the robes of a progenitor of a God, one who seemingly stood to speak to her despite the void of loneliness that she was seemingly left with. What was this being doing here? Did she deserve such a presence at all? She looked almost angelic in a way...as she thought this, the being finally spoke out to her, in a tone that was mature and serious.
"...child of man. One whose life was taken far to earlier than what was planned for it, and one who had suffered through hardships no one of your age shoumd have to endure...I have come, as a member of your goddesses, the Trinity, to offer unto you...a blessing."
Marie stared wide eyed at the sight of her, and what exactly she was meant to be offered in turn, and what she could even be offered considering the state of her existance right now. She slowly looked her up and down, noticing she wore typical nun clothing, with a cross upon her neck, and soft blonde hair that poked from the hood she wore. She wished she could speak to her, and seemingly the progenitor of goddesses noticed this, with her holding a hand up
"...no need to expect the need to speak. Your thoughts and actions will do nicely, child. Either way, it is a merely basic offer, one of which is entirely up to your choice as to if you take it or not."
Marie stared at the woman with a softness in her eye as she spoke, her slowly coming to terms this was real as she slowly nods in assurances, accepting her offer to speak of what she willed of her to have or not, to see what exactly what it was this being of holiness could offer.
The progenitor slowly procured a beating heart from the void, a skull adorned at its center, with Marie able to feel the power that emanated from this mass of organ. She stared wide eyed as she looked up to the woman with surprise and shock at the power of such an item
"...this. this is the Skull Heart. An item created by my goddesses and sisters, to give powers similar to those of what you call "quirks"....this can be yours, a gift, if you will...if you can follow a simple consequence to accepting such a thing."
Marie stared at the woman with shock in her eyes, her unable to fathom the chance of having power such as that...while being dead. It felt like it should be pointless, and the goddess took note of that, and smiled warmly
"...it will also give you life once more, child. It be rude if we gave you powers completely unusable, yes? Though, there are caveats to this deal we offer upon you, such things that you must understand."
Marie nodded softly as she spoke, accepting her words once more and accepting any and all statements she would have in regards to this deal, a growing pit in her stomach (or lack thereof) forming as she patiently listened to it all.
"...this item, when given unto you, is yours to wield, to hold..yet you must hold the resolve to choose the path you've always wished for: the right to become a true hero, yes? If you were to lose sight of that, with your will faltering to dust...we goddesses will seem humanity unable to exist as it is, and we will take control of such an item to destroy this horrid humanity you think is redeemable, or worth saving. We originally had no intentions of meddling in humanities affairs...but the rise of these "quirks" was unexpected, and 200 years of segregation has finally made us as higher beings realize humanity is truly unable to save itself..yet beings like you, made us hold back until now."
