Mavis was born to nomads of the Nedes in Cyrod before the rebellion against Ayleids began. Right around the time when it occurred she was around near her thirties at the time Molag Bal abducted her and brought her to Coldharbour.

The woman was tormented and even went through a painful transition to become a Dremora. She was torn apart and put back together while she was still awake. After her transformation completed, her mind was soon warped as she served as one of the prison guards of Coldharbour.

She lived under the identity Mortis as she was the embodiment of death and pain in those who who wronged her and her master Molag Bal.

Centuries pass and two denizens of Coldharbour decided to pull Mortis aside as one knew who she was. A Dremora named Lyranth was able to undo what control was done on the Nedic-Dremora hybrid by casting an incantation to wake her up.

She told her what her real name was and that she's been imprisoned for a long time. Mavis began panicking as she realizes those she tried to go near feared her, Lyranth convinced them that she is no longer under Molag Bal's control.

Cadwell was able to help her collect any memories and whatever the God of Schemes took from her. Mavis wanted to escape after she learned her people were long gone. The oldest Soul Shriven and Dremora outcast managed to help her get out of Coldharbour and sent her somewhere else as they knew she would be tracked down on Nirn.

Mavis came to Earth as she only carried whatever she still had from her Nedic tribes and that was the last of them. The place she dropped into was Gotham City.

As the city was foreign to her, she collected her things and began walking through the streets. Mavis was confused and also frightened of how the city looked. But her reaction to being threatened is fight more than flight.

But some weapons were enhanced than hers and she took off but got shot by a mafia man. He was stopped by the caped crusader and she was soon picked up by this vigilante who saved her life.

Mavis later woke up in a daze seeing a man tending to her wounds. When he caught her to have awakened, he urged her to stay on her back and not move as he was plucking a bullet out of her skin. Hours later, she was brought back up to the mansion where she was washed and clothed even fed.

Bruce Wayne introduced himself as the one who saved her and she had to keep his secret. She became close to his butler Alfred Pennyworth. He showed her many histories of the place she is now occupied in. Mavis became more interested in history and got a job as a hired woman for bounties to make for her spare time.

She assisted humans who need help and Alfred helped her learn how to use a computer and a phone. Mavis felt at home during her time on Earth.
