Damn.

If my brothers saw me now, they'd be rolling on the floor laughing. I was a Sleepless Knight. All day I'd spent straddlin' my bike and scowling at every strange guy who moved past the border into our territory. Most people didn't mess with me long when I was glaring. My cut spoke for me.

And yet, here I was.

Brought to my knees by a blonde who came up to my shoulders. My blood was so junked up with adrenaline that my fingers were shaking. All because I was going to see a movie with Taylor. I still couldn't believe it. My head was spinning like crazy at this unexpected turn. Not that I was about to argue. I'd only been wanting this for months. Taylor bobbed her head back and forth, chewing on her bottom lip as she tried to decide what snack to get.

"Doritos," I said, and she rolled her eyes at me

"Are you some kind of heathen? No way, too loud"

"What soda do you want?" I asked, stifling a laugh. God, this felt so good, so right, us bickering over what food to get.

"Diet Coke please" she replied, absentmindedly as she tried to decide. I wandered to the counter, got us both drinks and popcorn, extra butter. Taylor joined me, still chewing on her lip. I felt a kick of sadness in my gut, that I didn't notice these things about her before. Now I memorized all Taylor's micro expressions. She kept things locked up tight, but her left eyebrow twitched when she was about to really lose it. Chewing her thumbnails meant she was worried. She rocked on her feet when she was getting impatient. The little lip chew she was doing right now?

Mild annoyance.

"What's wrong" I said with a teasing tone as she took the drink and popcorn from me, but I pulled away, wanting to be a gentleman and carry them for her. She shook her head and huffed a little laugh.

"It's nothing. I just wanted peanut butter M & M's, and they sold out. Can you believe that?"

I let my smile grow wider and pointed my head down at my jacket.

"You're in luck, Tay, slip your hand in my jacket," I said, and she paused for a minute before dipping her dainty fingers into my pocket. I heard the rustling and watched as she struggled to hide the pleasure on her face. She held the Peanut M & M's out with wide eyes.

"You're welcome," I said lightly, walking towards the cinema and fighting the urge to skip. "I picked them up when you went home to change. I know they're your favorite and they were out last week when I was here," I gulped. Shouldn't have said that. Taylor didn't miss a beat.

"Have you seen this movie already?" she questioned as we lined up, sliding me a knowing look.

"Yeah, I've seen it" I cleared my throat as her face shuttered. "I lost my movie buddy, you know, but I still come on my own."

"Sure, any girl would be happy to go with you, just flash them that smile" My stomach quivered at her words. She liked my smile?

"Nah, only one girl I wanna go with." My voice was rough. "Lucky she invited me here tonight. I was getting pretty sick of going on my own. Not as fun without you"

She snorted as we slid into the seats, accepting her popcorn and tearing open the snacks. She hummed under her breath as she chewed on one, bouncing unconsciously in her chair.

She was adorable.

And she'd asked me to come with her. I was sweating still. What did it mean? Was this a step in the right direction? Had my words gotten through to her finally? Was she giving me a chance? I shoved my hand in the popcorn, stuffing my face to cut off the cacophony of thoughts running through my brain. The next hour and a half was sweet torture. In the dark, I could feel the heat of Taylor as she sat cross-legged in her chair. Every slight movement made me turn my head, and I'd seen nothing more beautiful. Taylor in her oversized hoodie, her eyes bright with the reflection of the movie. At one point, she jumped, her fingers landing on my arm, and my skin tingled from her touch.
