George jolted up in his bed. He was panting and sweating, his hair nearly drenched. He had tears rolling down his cheek. He lifted the covers off him and couldn't shake the feeling he had deep in his stomach. He stood up, almost so fast that he fell forward a bit, he grabbed a thin blanket and walked out of his room. He didn't realized whose door he was in front of until upon adjusting to his surroundings. It was Dream's door.
He lightly knocked on it, no hesitation, and slowly opened the door. "Dream?" He said quietly but loud enough for Dream to sit up in his bed. Dream let out a hum as he propped himself up on his elbows.
"Yeah?" He let out. He could barely keep his eyes open. George just stood there looking at him, he still had tears in his eyes. "Everything okay?" Dream asked before George pushed the door and ran up to Dream, embracing him in a tight hug. He dropped the thin blanket beside him.
Dream was confused but hugged back. "What's wrong?" He asked, rubbing George's back. George let out sniffles but never let go of Dream. He gently rocked his body to make sure he was as close as he could be to Dream.
"I had a nightmare." He said, loosening his grip around Dream. Dream looked down at him and smiled. "Do you want to lay in here?" He asked. George nodded. "Please.." he whispered.
Dream went to get up to leave George but George stopped him. "I-I don't want you to leave.." he said quietly. Dream smiled and pulled his blanket back over him. "Do you want to talk about it?" Dream asked.
George turned to his side and stared at Dream's T-shirt, he wanted to just scoot closer and hug him. "I don't know." George said quietly. He pulled his thin blanket over himself and covered his face, half embarrassed half scared and sad.
He was embarrassed at the fact that he was being like this over a dumb, not real, dream he had that woke him in the middle of the night and had him scared and in tears. He was embarrassed that he was nearly 26 and was currently laying in his best friends bed because he was a nervous wreck and felt safe with him.
He was scared to leave Dream by himself or even have him leave the room. He was scared because of how real his dream felt and how much it shocked him.
"Do you want me to go get you a drink of water?" Dream asked softly, he had his hand resting against his cheek and his elbow propping him up facing George. George was quick to shake his head. "Okay." Dream said, placing his hand on George's forehead.
"You're warm, do you feel alright?" Dream asked. George tilted his head up to meet Dream's eyes. "Not really." He admitted. Dream smirked. "I'll go get you a glass of water." He said, trying to get up. George shook his head and sat up.
"Don't go." He said. Dream looked at George with a look of concern. "Please, just- you can go get it in a minute just please stay a moment I just have to make sure..you're alright, please Clay." He begged, he kept his eyes locked to his blanket, too embarrassed to meet his friend's eyes.
"Okay, I'm sorry, I'll stay." Dream said, leaning back. George nodded and laid back down, he scooted closer to Dream, his hand pressed against his chest. Dream wrapped his arms around him and took a deep breath.
"Thank you, Dream." He said quietly, tilting his head up to look at him. Dream looked down at him with a slight smile. George let his head fall against his chest, he heard Dream's heart beat. He smiled and all the stress and fear exhaled from his body. His eyes slowly began to close, leaving him with ease against his friends chest with his slow and steady breaths.
