The not so awkward meeting whose motive was to solve a case, made Anu regret bringing her assistant with her. Getting into an argument every five minutes didn't allow them to get into the main subject.
"Do you have the statement from Roshini's parents, friends and colleagues?" Anu asked Priya, gathering up the utmost patience.
"I do," she said, handing over all the files relating to the case.
"Any evidence from the crime scene?" Anu asked, looking into the files.
"Nope. No fingerprints, no tracemarks, and nothing off key," Priya answered confidently. She added, "Actually we noticed the fire alarm being disabled. So, we did an investigation regarding that and got to know that it was done deliberately, like, on purpose it was turned off or destroyed," she said, the same point which they already noted.
Anu acted all unknown as if she didn't know about the fire alarm because Anu didn't want anyone to know about them visiting the crime scene.
In the meantime, when Anu was looking into those statements, Karthik asked, "What about the CCTV?"
Priya was sarcastic and took the chance to call him out. "Oh, so you ask questions too?" She mocked. Karthik exhaled sharply in disbelief.
"There we go again," Anu thought, being all irritated by their childish behavior.
She placed her hand on her head when they started bickering again. "Will you guys stop it?" She yelled at them for not being considerate of the situation they are in.
"What kind of stupidity is this? I mean, we gotta solve this case and here you are arguing over silly things," Anu has had enough bearing them. She had every right to shout at them irrespective of the seniority and designation she carries with her name because, obviously, who likes to tolerate things like this?
After taking a deep breath to calm herself down, "Just hand over all the files. I will do things by myself," she said, being disappointed in them.
While parting ways, Priya said, "Sorry, Ma'am". After a pause, "I know I am not supposed to act like this but…" she glared at Karthik and continued saying, "but this idiot's presence made me think about things that I am not supposed to," she frowned. Cursing him right in front of her role model seemed wrong for her yet she couldn't help holding herself back.
"Even now, look at me dwelling on my past and calling him 'idiot' in front of you… No matter where I am and what kind of profession I am into, it doesn't change the fact that I loved him to depths of the ocean once and hate him to the heights of the sky now," Priya said. It surprised Anu quite a lot of how people prioritize their respect and pride these days.
Priya took out her phone and typed something aggressively. "I shared the number of one of my team mate's who is also working on this case. For any help or further reference contact him," Priya said.
Trying to analyze her, Anu fell into deep thoughts because she had a similar mindset and hated Aditya for rejecting her. Now looking at Priya going through the same phase, made Anu recollect her moments with Aditya years ago.
That is when Anu realised how stupid she was because she too was no good when she met him for the first time after 12 years. In Fact she was worse than Priya.
"It feels like I am looking at myself in a mirror!" Anu mumbled.
"Pardon?" Priya didn't hear Anu.
"Nothing," Anu said.
Priya apologized again being disheartened about the fact that she disappointed Anu, and it didn't take much time for Anu to excuse her as she started seeing things from her perspective.
