Present day"I love my ring by the way you have great taste. I'm sorry about before when I we were in Gucci. I'll apologise to those ladies before we leave the island."
"I should've told you I bought the bag for you."
I bump his shoulder, "Am I forgive?"
"Always."
"So fiancé they have seafood, Dutch and Caribbean food restaurants. What type of food should we have?" I ask him.
"I was thinking if we eat somewhere the locals eat we should get a sample of all those types of food."
"I love that idea and I would love to sun myself on a boat later."
"That can be arranged." I love that he was spoiling me.
I take my brunette hair out of its ponytail and shake my head so my hair looked decent while it was down.
We ask locals where the best place to eat was and follow the directions they gave us. We arrive at a quaint restaurant overlooking the sea. Where James pulls out my chair for me and I thank him.
"What you you like to drink?" Ask a waiter.
I pick up the menu and have a look through it. "I'll have fresh coconut juice." I look over at James.
"I'll have the same."
The waiter leaves and we look through the menu properly and decide on a selection of dishes.
I feel James fingers going up and down on my arms, I was getting goosebumps. "Someone is enjoying me running my fingers up and down their arms."
He was right I was but I was grateful the waitress choose that moment to bring our drinks to us. I look at the coconut with a straw in it. I could tell I was going to enjoy eating at this restaurant.
I swung my leg on the yacht we were on then stand up. "Take a photo of me I want to sent it to mum." I pose for several photos while James took some pictures. I kiss him passionately on the lips then on the cheek and take a selfie of us.
"I should of known you would get a yacht not a boat." I lay on the sun lounger and James lays next to me. I turn to face him. "I love you, I loved you when you came to my nineteen birthday party with your usual home made card. I loved you when after my graduation you gave me that scarf I liked as a present. I loved that even though it was five euros you knew I didn't care because it came from you. I love you because when mom and dad would go on overseas trips. You called me every night to say goodnight."
He rest his head on his elbow and smile at me. "I love that you're my world next to my family. I love that I get to be with you as part of your world from now on. I don't mean the royalty stuff. I mean we get to live together and see each other first thing in the morning."
"I can't wait for that too," he replies.
"I get to teach you all about royal life. It's different when you're part of it instead of looking in."
"I know."
He kisses me again I know he wants more but I'm happy. He respects my decision to wait for marriage to have sex. The winds starts picking up.
"We should get back to shore before things get too rough out here," I suggest.
He stands and gives me his hand I take it and we make our way inside the boat. I see a romantic table for two laid out.
"You shouldn't have, this is so lovely." I take a seat and he takes the chair opposite me. "Thank you."
He intertwines our hands and I kiss his knuckles. I didn't deserve him he has always been so kind and wonderful to me.
"You're welcome."
"How come you never asked me out?" I see the red stain on his cheek. He looks liked the quiet shy kid I always knew him to be. I'm glad he's not like that anymore.
"He looks embarrassed for a moment, "You have so many guys wanting to date you. It's well known the Italian crown prince likes you. I figured why would you choose me over a crown."
"I will always choose you over a crown and I have plenty of tiara's that I already like. I didn't know Federico likes me." I was very surprised at that news because he was a serial dater. I know his parents hopes he settles down soon.
"I'm touched by your words and why is it the woman is always the last to know a man likes her." He laughs, "If I had to choose someone for you to fall in love with after me it would be him. He would treat you like a queen not just make you one."
I was starting to feel uncomfortable, "Why don't we change the subject. We should buy some presents for your family and mine."
He studies me for a moment and doesn't say anything, "Yes we should," he finally agrees.
That night I told him why the bag was so important to me. The rest of our holiday went great. I set foot in Denmark feeling elated I was home.
James and I arrive at the palace to be greeted by our parents. "My baby is getting married I can't believe it." Mum wipes her eyes while dad shakes hands with James.
I see Countess Susan who curtsies to me and hugs me. "I can't believe it I'm going to be a mother in law."
I step back from her and hug mum I was happy to give her something good to look forward to. We lose grandma and she mourned me while thinking Noah was dead. Then she had a heart attack when I was kidnapped. I see the happiness radiating from her and dad. But I can't pretend that her hair hasn't gotten greyer. That there aren't more worried lines on her face than a year ago. I'm just glad my nieces Samantha, Josefina and my nephew Alfie helps to brighten her day. I see just how happy they make her and dad.
"Why don't you too freshen up and change and meet us back here in an hour."
My mother was wearing her usual black. I miss seeing her wear colour. Since gran's death it's been her signature colour. At least on my wedding day she will be forced to wear something appropriate and bright.
"We will see you in a while I take James's hand and we go to my room where we shower and change. Me into a lively yellow summer dress and him into black pants and a white shirt. I watch him apply mousse to his still damp hair.
As we walk into the living room I almost have a heart attack.
