"Do you know that before I met your dad, I dated someone else? He was my first love and I wished dearly for him to my first and last," said Seokjin and Namjoon looked up at his husband, unsure where the conversation was heading.

"I loved him. He did too, I guess. But we hit rough seas and the entire foundation on which our love was built came crashing down. I will never be able to explain in words the pain I felt back then. The ache so strong that I didn't know how to make it stop. It didn't just vanish but it kept coming back, haunting me in my dreams and even while I was awake."

Jungkook's lower lip trembled and Jin knew he'd succeeded in connecting with the younger.

"I felt sick. I felt anxious. I longed for him to return and I became pathetic. I apologised to him. Tried to get him to start over again. I'm glad that whenever I tried to speak to him, we just ended up getting into arguments that had my heart breaking all over again."

Jungkook coughed a little and Namjoon patted his back, kissing the crown of his son's head.

"Do you know why?" Seokjin asked gently.

Jungkook slowly shook his head.

"Because if he hadn't broken my heart, I would never have met Namjoon."
