Chapter 2
The first thing that Julianna did once she landed was sit up. Even though she felt ill due to the drastic drop in altitude she just went through, lying down was just making things worse for her. A metaphorical thorn in her side, which was ironic given that the whole reason she was sitting up was because there was a thorn in her side.
Whoever believed that dropping children into a field of roses was a good idea, clearly did not think about the constant pruning that they would need. Oh well, since it was only one thorn and it didn't draw blood, Julianna was happy to leave it to be someone else's problem. After all, what good was throwing a fit over something so minimal.
'There is no point in complaining, I have no authority here, I can't exactly force someone to prune all the roses could I.' Julianna giggled at the thought. Her ordering someone to do something else was a laughable idea. She would feel better doing it herself, or helping out in any way she could.
Her body was lifted into a standing position, she lifted her arms, and saw about half a dozen little creatures dressed in wispy white clothing. She smiles at them in thanks, but frowned when they simply hissed angrily.
Julianna furrowed her eyebrows and watched them fly off somewhere else
"And I was under the impression that animals at the school for Evers were meant to be sweet and kind. They seemed nothing but sour and rude." The girl muttered, watching as the creatures disappeared from sight, whether they had some sort of gift for camouflage or perhaps they were too small to be seen from a distance such as hers.
Something that Julianna hadn't realised was that she had piqued the interest of a certain group of princesses, who could not help but stare at the girl and her strange choice of clothing.
They gathered around the edge of the roses and watched her mutter repeatedly to herself. One of the girls, who seemed to be the leader, cleared her throat to catch Juliana's attention.
Jules, who finally stopped muttering, turned towards the group of girls and smiled at them slightly. She had never seen anyone like them before, elegant looking with perfect poise and grace. Most of the girls in Gavaldon worked to provide food, so they had no time for gracefulness and appearance. These girls seemed to have all the time in the world, or wherever they came from.
The leader of the girls spoke, breaking Julianna once again out of her endless monologue.
"I see you met the fairies, best keep your distance, they don't take kindly to princesses." She looked Julianna up and down before carrying on.
"Though it appears you shouldn't have a problem, do tell me, where is your flower ground pass?"
Julianna looked at her quizzically, raising an eyebrow and patting her leggings for her non-existent pockets. Proceeding to give her a sheepish smile, and a slight shrug, followed by a 'I don't appear to have one"
The leader chuckled dryly and turned towards the other girls in the group.
"Look here girls, it appears we have a reader," she looked over her shoulder towards Julianna, who was now climbing out of the roses.
"Or perhaps a Never, after all, only an evil witch would wear such hideous clothing. So what are you?"
The auburn haired girl was aware that the question was directed towards her.
The head princess (which Julianna had now dubbed her as) crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow.
Julianna coughed, hoping to clear the air of awkwardness that was causing even the roses to cringe.
