Dark. As far as the eye can see, small blipits of light almost in every aspect of that dark. So really not that dark but still, almost makes you think it's empty. Space is what it's called. Where? Good question. Somewhere drifting near the lost human colony, Reach.
A large Covenant cruiser floats a few thousand miles away for the planet Reach's atmosphere. Floating above what seems to be a debris field of scattered and destroyed U.N.S.C and Covenant ships, seems as if it were nitpicking through the wrecks looking for something, anything. The cruiser itself was odd. Mostly red blue accents. Searchlights were coming off the underside of the ship, the lights lazily searching through the debris. It's obvious their looking for something but what? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Loud chatter filled the interior of the ships bridge. hearing different tones and dialects the buzz and stir shifts to a halt when they find the source, the reason why they were there. the entire crew in the room shifted their eyes out the forward viewport to confirm for themselves. they finally found the source of that dreadful noise that just would not stop.

(????????) P.O.V.
Finally, we found the source of that strange noise, I liked it. originally, we returned to this sector to respond to a blatant distress signal. Then when we got here that strange sound played through every channel and frequency that we have. Strange thing is that it only started a few days ago but there hasn't been any activity out here since a little more than half a cycle ago. but as I look outside into the debris field in one of the search lights lies a simple craft completely unscathed compared to its surroundings.
"Commander what is that?" the simple question left me as I shifted my head, turning towards my commanding officer.
"Trouble" as I was about to ask, she continued "tow the craft into the hangar I want you to search it."
"Me?!" quickly composing myself as her gaze shifted my way with a raised brow " I-I mean yes ma'am."
"I want you to find the source of that signal and turn that Damned noise off so I can have a clean signal to broadcast an all clear to keep the humans from showing up, I don't want to deal with their annoying rules."
"Yes ma'am" that was all I needed to say as I got up from my seat to head towards the hangar, waddling towards the door the commander stops me and speaks.
"Take him with you." she harshly pointed towards the Jiralhanae standing in the corner who threw his hands up in anger.
"It's a simple task commander, just make the grunt do it." he said arrogantly.
"You are a grunt now GO!." she said in growl.
the brute quickly moved towards the exit to avoid angering her further. As I simply began to walk away again the brute quickly caught up with me, as we both silently made our way to the hangar not even bothering a glance at each other. when we entered the hangar, I saw that strange ship again, its black with an inscription its name, I think.
'MORTIS.'
"Mort-is, no that's not right no one in existence would name a ship like that Mortis" I'll ask that lady the next time I see her.
What was weird was the ship had landed on its own and opened itself for entry. that sound playing through the hatch. as the brute and I walked inside the ship we saw a straight hallway with five doors two on either side with one at the end of the walkway, the sound played through the only open door at the end of the hallway.
"You deal with the sound I'll check out the doors." grunted the brute as he took a sharp left into the dark room he just opened.
"Great, let me do all the work" I complained sighing I waddled to what was obviously the ships bridge. as I entered the bridge, I took note of everything's height, 'aren't I almost the same size as a human? Even the chair is taller than me!'
"Hey! hurry up and turn of the signal I've almost cleared all of these rooms." the brute shouted. as he bounded for the last door.
Turning around I see all the doors open except one the brute was about to step into the next room. returning to face forward I got close to the console of the ships bridge computer. See nothing but a flashing red button that just screamed 'push me'!
"Mhem, why not what's the worst that could happen." quickly bashing the red button with the satisfaction of not instantly dying and the music ceasing to play, I was happy, so I turned.
"YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE DONE THAT"
that scared me so much I jumped it sounded like a robot just spoke in the human dialect.
