I had lost, and now my things were all being moved to Ivar's room. But I wasn't about to let him win.
"You did not clarify I was to spend the rest of my time here in your chambers," I reasoned with the sick King. He smirked and shrugged.
"You have lost and now you share my bed." I growled he took a sip from his horn.
"You are unbelievable," he smiled at me and said,
"Thank you," I groaned and pushed away from his throne. Sauntering down the steps and into the crowd.I was annoyed with myself and annoyed with my father for leaving me in this mess. How was I going to get out of this one? Striding through the streets of Kattegat. I headed for my cabin, needing ten minutes alone to compose myself.
People watched me an whispered. Surely confused one how a Windvymere woman would know how to fight as well as I. And to be fair no one knows but the people of Kattegat. After the years of torment I endured. I was being victim anymore. Lost in my own thoughts, I pushed open the heavy door to my old room.My eyes immediately being disturbed by the sight in front of me.
Ass, round tattooed ass.
"Oh shit," I squealed, and Selby stared up at me from under her new friend. Then the familiar face of Ubbe turned to face me as well. The full show was displayed before me. And I had unfortunately seen to much of Ubbe at that time. I turned away from them as Selby scrabbled to her feet.
Retreating to the docks, the water rapped against the haul of the boat. I laid my body down in one of the large ships, staring up as the sails whipped back and forth in the breeze. The sway of the boat making me feel at ease. Even for a moment, I found comfort in my hiding hole.
I was worried, about Erik and Calder back home. Worried about my friends back home. And worried my uncle may be rooting up my family as we speak.
My uncle was a putrid man. Honestly more of a monster then a man. Much like Ivar was.And for some reason, that was why I despised him so much. Along with his lists of murders I've seen since being here. I looked at the clouds as they glided through the sky like silk. The calm before the storm. I could feel the electricity through the air, like Thor was waiting to bang his hammer. The boat rocked under someone's weight and I looked over to see who had entered my peaceful hideaway.
"Lady Melti, I am so sorry," Selby apologized. I laughed and sat up to look at her. Scooting over so she could join me.
"Please at least one of us is having some fun," her cheeks lit red and she stared down at the floor.
"He is very kind," I poked her with my boot.
"He looks more the just kind." I made a large motion with my hand and she chuckled.
"Okay yes that too," we both laughed together and her face eased. This was a lovely moment. That I knew wouldn't last long. It was getting dark and I was to spend the night with Loki himself.
"You're things were all moved my lady," A puff of air exited my lungs. The reality of my situation coming to light.
"I do hope I get to still see you. You've been my only friend here," Selby smiled weakly at me. Her hand resting on mine.
"You will. I am still your servant. No matter where they house you," I smiled back at her. Grateful to at least have one ally. "Do be careful tonight," she spoke as she retracted her hand. I couldn't look at her. My eyes wandering to the open sea, the waves almost begging me to come home.
"I know," I spoke softly.
"Melti, he is a monster. Do not anger him," my mind knew she was right. He could kill me if he truly wanted to. And he isn't one to think about repercussions in the moment.
"I'll be careful." I assured her and she nodded. Offering me a hand out of the boat.
"Shall we?" I accepted the gesture. Pulling myself back to the dock. But out of the corner of my eye, a blur of black soared through the sky. I turned back to the see and I heard the faint cry of a raven. Odin had something planned for me. And I was unsure of what he had in store.
