Diwali special ✨ ( short )

Yukti's pov

"Happy Diwali Mera baccha!" Mom exclaimed through the phone screen. "Same to you maa." I can feel my eyes fill up with tears. This is my first diwali without my maa. After Papa left us, evey year maa  and I use to enjoy all occasions togather. And during Diwali, it something special. We would make rangoolis, light candles and diyas and maa would make tasty foods. This time I'm in Aunt Arachana's house. It's not like I'm alone, but still...

"What happened beta ?"

"N.. nothing maa."

"I know you're feeling lonely. I really wish I could be there with you. But it'll be not possible..." I can see her face saddened.

"No no maa, it's alright. You should take care of yourself and heal properly. And I'm not lonely, really! There are Auntie, Poonam and Gulki. They don't let me feel left out." I said while smiling.

"That's my relief beta. Achcha, Bye betu I have to go. Enjoy your day."

"Bye maa, love you." I disconnected the call and then layed on the bed. This diwali, I'm going spend with the Joshis. Auntie told me to get ready at the evening. We'll be lightning the candles togather. And there will be patakas as Poonam like firecrackers very much.

Uhmm.. I can smell good food. I went downstairs flying with the smell. Auntie is making different sweets with the homelady. And.... THERE IS SHAHI PANEER. I was right (⁠≧⁠▽⁠≦⁠)

"Areh Yukku, what are you doing here ?" Auntie asked as she noticed me entering the kitchen.

"What are you cooking auntie ~~"

"Ahh I see. You really like to eat Yukku beta. That's why I am making your favourite Shahi paneer today, and some sweets. Ahihihi"

"Thank you auntie(⁠ㆁ⁠ω⁠ㆁ⁠)" I side hugged auntie and went out of the kitchen. Poonam was drawing something sitting on the sofa. I sat beside her.

"Hey! Can't you see I'm painting?" She gave me her iconic eye roll. But today, I should not get angry with a kid. Keep calm Yukti Kapoor.

"Sorry pooh" I showed a peace sign.

Oh, I forgot about Gulki. Where is she I haven't seen her since morning. So I decided to ask pooh. "Hey, pooh where is your sister ?"

"None of your business. Duh." This.kid.ಠ⁠_⁠ಠ

"Just say that you don't wanna tell me, you little monster." I want to annoy her too.

"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY ?"

"LITTLE. MONSTER." Saying this I stood up from the sofa and ran before Poonam could reach me.

"I'll kill you." She shouted behind me and I laughed as I ran the whole house and she chased me (*▽*)...

*DHOOP*

"OUCH" I bumped into something and fell. I grabbed something with my both hands to support myself. Woah, what is it, it's kind of "soft". I adjusted myself and looked beneath me.

"Would you like to stand up and leave me ?" Gulki stated. Yes. I fell over Gulki. And Yes. I was supporting myself on her chest.

I quickly let go of my hands and stood up. "I'm.. so...sorry.. I.. I was.. j..ju---"
As soon as I stood up, Poonam jumped on my back. "Poonam noooohh."
