Thirty Seven

Yukti's Pov

"Yukku, be honest, are you hiding something from me ?" Santu squinted her eyes at me.

"Whatt ? Th.. there's nothing to hide santu, what are you talking about??" I fumbled as I could not risk to let my besties know about tomorrow. I mean not yet. I will tell them in future.

"Hmm.. it's okay, I'll find it out..." Santu murmured something as we sat in the cafeteria waiting for Mira.

Actually, we got home yesterday before aunty and Poonam arrived. At the dinner table, aunty did asked about what we did the whole day, to which Gulki and I both coughed badly. Aunty squinted her eyes at us, but I quickly turned the topic and asked her about their event. Aunty being the naive one, she started to give us the gossip she had. I saw Gulki give out a relief sigh and wink at me. I gave a smile back and really focused on Aunty's words.

Finishing our food, we went upstairs. I was about to lock my door as it hung open and Gulki quickly barged in and locked the door behind.

Then she faced me and pulled me closer by the waist. Her back was now pressed on the door as she hugged me. My face was buried against her chest. Though I took a little while to process it, I also quickly wrapped my arms around her waist and took in her scent. If she's showing affection, I can too. Then she let go of me and rested her arms on my shoulder.

"One quick question." She stated before smiling with her angelic dimples, "Do you... want to make it public right now?"

I was confused at the shocking question. She, reading my expression very well, took a while to explain.

"See Yukti, I'm not telling you that I'll change again. I've promised you and myself, and believe me I'll never be the cold one to you, never. But, I haven't proposed you yet, right ? I'm not being dramatic but I really want to do it specially. Until then, I would wish to keep our relationship private. For I want to give you things you deserve, then you can decide. Till then, please, can we keep us a secret ? But if you want it to be public, then its fine. I'll not push you."

As she took a breath, I indulged myself into deep thoughts. Like, should I not tell this to my only besties ? I don't know, will I be betraying them ? I believe Gulki with all my heart but what she says is right. Let's wait for the right time.

I made her head bend and placed a soft kiss on her forehead, "It's okay. We can keep us a secret for now. But I'm pretty excited to see your plans, Gulki."

A big smile appeared on her face as she looked up at me and cupped my face, "Buckle up, pretty. The ride's gonna be exciting."

Oh my god, her words. I can see butterflies all over my self right now.

Then she gave me a little kiss on the lips and went to her room. I touched my lips and a smile crept on them as I plopped on the bed. And then, there it was, the ending of one of the most amazing days of my life. And I still could not believe, that it was amazing because of the person whom I've loved for three years, Gulki Joshi.

"Hey guys." Mira pulled the chair and sat as I was pulled back from my flashback. I noticed Santosh glancing on me.

"What's up Yukku ? Ready for the prom night ?"

"Me ?" I was shocked at the sudden remark of the prom. It will be tomorrow evening. But the events from the late two days have made me forget about this event.

"Yupe." Santu took a sip of her lassi and continued eyeing me,"We heard that Anurag is going to... ask you on the prom night."

"What ?!"
