Now can I just get straight that I do not cut myself anymore, when Amelia died I didn't know what to do with myself, I was off school for months. The doctors diagnosed me with depression and gave me some pills. They didn't help. I cut myself for a while but someone in my school saw it and got me 'help'. I haven't cut since but the scars will always be there.

I pulled my hood up and over my face and proceeded to walk into the familiar hell hole I call school. I don't have any friends so I spend my break and lunch hours in the nearby park, listening to music. Music and bands are the only things that give the strength to keep going. Now I know that that sounds really stupid and lame but its true, I drown myself in their lyrics trying to block out the harsh reality that I live in.

I had English first. "Great!" I heaved a sigh and started towards my first class. I entered the classroom and claimed my regular seat at the back on my own. I stared out of the window and wished myself somewhere else. The rang and people began streaming in. A few minutes into the lesson there was a knock on the door.
"Come in!" Mrs Glenstone yelled.
The door swung open and a tall blonde haired boy stood there, he had a bmth shirt on, black jeans and a black beanie pulled over his hair.
"Um, hi I'm Ben. I'm new here." He said shyly.
"Ah Ben is it?"
"Yeah" he nervously glanced around the room.
"You can sit next to Jenna, over there at the back by the window."
I inwardly groaned but tried to smile as if I was friendly.
He nodded and walked over. People began to murmer in the class and kept shooting me death looks but I hung my head and tried to block it out.
"Um hi?"
I looked up at the new boy sitting next to me.
"Hey" I said quietly, I really was not good at talking to people.
"You're Jenna right?"
"Yeah, that's me" I attempted a small grin.
"Cool, um what class are you in next?" He asked.
"Music. What about you?"
Why was I making conversation with him?!
"Same!" His eyes lit up, "could you show me how to get there? I went to at least three different classes trying to find this one!" He laughed.
I smirked, "yeah okay."
"Thanks."

The bell rang, signalling the end of English and I stood quickly, grabbing my bag.
"Hey! Wait for me!" Ben ran out of the class after me.

I sat in my usual spot at break, my headphones in, swinging my legs to the sound of green day's basket case.
"What you listening to?" A voice broke out, making me jump. I glanced up to see Ben standing in front of me, chuckling slightly.
"Sorry" I muttered, moving my bag off the bench. He sat down and repeated his question.
"Oh right sorry, um green day." I said.
"Really?"
"Yeah"
"They're like my favourite band!" He looked so excited it was funny.
"Same" I smiled a genuine smile, not a fake one but a real one.
We spent the rest of break talking about bands, turns out we have a similar music taste!
"Hey can I have your number?" He asked as the bell sounded.
I handed him my phone and he quickly typed it in.
"I'll text you at lunch" he said, waving as he went to his next class.

Wow I thought to myself as I wandered along the corridor towards history. A friend? I felt so comfortable with him, I didn't want to cry whenever he spoke to me. I smiled, maybe things were beginning to look up. :)
