I recounted the events to myself.

It was hard to believe he was gone.

Perhaps this was the way the Gods meant for me to pay for the wrongs I had committed.

It was hard to tell.

I picked the shattered mask off Zandik's face, I would have told Aether his real name, but he entrusted me with that secret before he left me, and I made a promise to take it to my grave, even if he was no longer there.

I held the broken parts to my chest, hoping I could maybe somehow bring him back.

My sobs were echoing through the factory.

"You shouldn't waste your tears on fools, they don't deserve you."

He always told me he was no good at comforting people, but when it came to me, he always seemed to know what to say.

It was then that I heard quick footsteps approaching me from behind, but I didn't care.

If I died now, I would be able to see him again.

It was only when I was wrapped in his embrace and I heard his soothing voice comforting me did I realise he wasn't dead.

One of his clone were just stupid enough to get caught.
