~Soarin's POV~
How do I explain this to her without her knowing all of that? I sat there for a minute pondering what I was going to say to her. I guess that I zoned out for a bit because I looked up to see Rainbow waving her hand in my face to get my attention. I snapped out of my thoughts and looked in her direction, she said, "So, are you going to tell me?"
As much as I wanted to tell her because we don't keep secrets from each other, I also do not want to tell her and either freak her out or ruin our friendship. I was about to say something when I received a phone call from my mom (saved by the ringtone). I stepped out to answer the phone and see what my mom wanted; she wanted some information about a client that I had been working with within the company. Our conversation lasted about 45 minutes and after talking about the client and before hanging up my mom said that they will be home in about an hour (Dash's parents as well) and that she wanted to talk to me when she gets back. I said okay and went back into my room to find Dash on the phone with one of her friends so I decided to leave her alone for the time being.
~Time Skip - 1 Hour Later~
About an hour later I heard the front door open and knew that our parents were home. I went down to greet my parents and Dash followed, however, she hasn't been talking to me after we had both finished our respective phone calls. I tried talking to her about another subject but she just brushed me off. We greeted our parents and went back to our room. About thirty minutes later my mom called me to come to her room; I had almost forgotten that my mom had wanted to talk to me when she got home. I walked into her and my dad's room and saw her and Dash's mom sitting on her bed talking with Dash's mom and said "Oh, are you busy?"
"Oh, no sweetheart. I should have been more clear that I and Dash's mom wanted to talk to you", she said.
"Oh, okay. Well, what did you want to talk about?",
"Well, first come have a seat", my mom said while gesturing for me to come over.
I sat down and my mom started off the conversation by saying, "I, well we want to talk to you regarding your feelings towards Rainbow."
"Wait, what do you mean?"
"Your father already told us, Soarin", said Dash's mother.
"Damn!"
"Watch your mouth!"
"Sorry, mom."
I once began talking about my feelings for Rainbow and both moms seemed excited. When I was finished speaking Dash's mom asked "So when do you plan on telling her how you feel?"
I sat there frozen for a minute and said, "Well, I don't think that I want to tell her".
"Why", asked both moms in unison.
"I just don't want to ruin our friendship or have her see me differently", I said.
"Sweetheart, listen to me, if you don't tell her now and she finds out from somebody else then that will make things much worse than how you are thinking they might turn out", said my mom in a very nurturing voice.
I began thinking to myself and acknowledged that my mom was right. I said to her "That does make sense, but I just don't know how to tell her".
"We'll help you figure that out, but just know that the longer you wait the more difficult it will become", said Rainbow's mom.
