The Reflection

I sat on the couch as I watched TV. I had been home alone for about an hour now, my parents being with some friends. My dog, Luna, was peacefully sitting on my lap as I stroked her head. Everything was going alright. Right up until the point where the power went out.

The TV screen turned black and the lights turned off, engulfing me in darkness. I frowned as I stood up and made my way toward a drawer, pulling out a flashlight and flicking it on. Luna was following behind me as I picked up my phone, only to realize it was dead. I sighed as I made my way toward the spare phone we always kept in the kitchen. I made my way toward the kitchen but stopped when I looked in the mirror.

"I could have sworn I saw something," I muttered to myself as I stared at the now-empty mirror.

I looked at it a little longer, noting how my blue eyes and black hair stared back at me. I squinted at my reflection, trying to find anything wrong.

WOOF!

I jumped as I turned toward my dog. Her usual calm expression was now one of fear and confusion as it barked at the mirror. I frowned and leaned in closer as Luna continued to bark. Nothing seemed wrong with it. I leaned in even closer, so close that my nose practically touched the mirror. Luna's barks were becoming louder and more urgent. She usually never barks.

"Luna? What are you-" I stopped talking as fear overtook my mind.

I felt cool fingers against my upper arm, holding me in place. My breathing became more urgent and ragged. Slowly and shakingly, I turned to stare at the cool hand against my arm. I followed the arm and looked up at where the body was supposed to be. Only to scream in confusion and horror. I looked at the mirror and saw myself, only my eyes were filled with vengeance and hatred and my skin was so pale it looked white. Its eyes were a beady black. It smiled, showing its rows of teeth.

I continued screaming as it pulled me forward, making me tumble into the mirror. Instead of hiding solid glass, I slid right through. I continued screaming as darkness engulfed me. Making me feel nothing but pain and hearing my own screams.
