Bible's POV
I knew texting him was going to suck. I'd done everything I could these last few weeks to avoid him and everything that reminded me of him. The food that he'd brought that night was still in my fridge, rotting away, I hadn't had the nerve to look at it but I didn't want to throw it out. I knew I needed to. My lease was up in just a few days and all my stuff had been packed up to be moved back to my parents for the time being. I had initially planned on living with them full time while I looked for a job after school, but decided I needed to move away for a while and clear my head. I grabbed my phone and typed out what I wanted to say. I was glad you couldn't convey feelings through text. I didn't need him to know how I was feeling or what I was thinking.
**Text conversation between Build and Bible**
"If you're still up for everything tomorrow, we can just meet up right after the ceremony. You don't have to stay around once we're finished. I told you that was all I wanted and I meant it."
"Of course. I made a promise with you and I'm going to see it through. I wouldn't mind staying back a few minutes, we've been friends a long time Bible. Who knows what's going to happen after graduation. We might not see each other for years."
"Whatever, see you tomorrow."
"Good night Bibs."
"Night."
I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding and headed straight to bed. Tomorrow was going to be a long day and I needed to get as much rest as I could so I could survive it.
**The Next Day**
For the ceremony Build and I weren't sitting anywhere near each other. I saw him when he walked in to the auditorium and met up with Apo, Mile, Bas, Big and Pol. I started to walk over to them but stopped myself. I didn't want to make things awkward for Build, but he looked over and gave me the notion to join them. I stopped the smile forming from spreading across my entire face and walked casually over to them. I was greeted with hugs and handshakes from them all. When we met up later on I'd have to make sure I thanked Build for this. Apo and everyone had been friends with both of us for years and it wouldn't have felt right if I wouldn't have been able to share this experience with them.
"Damn it's great to all be together, I was worried you'd still be ignoring us." Apo said excitedly."Yeah," I started, "I've had a lot going on lately, sorry I've been avoiding everyone." I glanced at Build when I said that sentence, if anyone else noticed they acted like they didn't. "Besides you're all adults, you can't handle yourselves without me?"
Mile grabbed me around my neck and started tussling my hair. "Of course we can, we just were worried you wouldn't have been able to handle it without us."
I shoved away and slammed into Build. I straightened myself up as quickly as I could. "Sorry Build. Guys I'm going to go ahead and find my seat. See you on the other side."
"That got awkward fast." I heard Pol say as I was walking away. Great, as if I needed to give them a reason to suspect more than they already did. I was pretty sure that Apo and Mile knew everything. Why else would Mile have come over that night weeks ago to check on me? We'd been friends a while but not like that, which meant that Apo put him up to it because Build had told Apo everything. After tonight it didn't matter though. The ceremony went faster than I thought it would and the next thing I knew I was standing out front of the auditorium with my family getting pictures taken. Of course they kept asking me about Build and I told them he was busy with his own family. At one point my mother spotted him and yelled his name across the entire commons area.
"Build, khap, come and take pictures. I need to have one of my favorite person."
He was all smiles as he jogged over to us, his parents close on his heels.
