As one of the newer stories in this collection, Black and Blue by Aurora313 was started in May of this year (2022), and is still ongoing with regular updates! I genuinely cannot rave about this story enough! Ever want a fanfic including Kaien Shiba that didn't end after two chapters? Well today's your lucky day! This fic takes a wonderfully neutral stance on ships and focuses solely on the familial relationships of our beloved Shiba Clan members. I've yet to encounter anything I don't like in this fanfic.
This story really indulges the reader with genuine reactions from the characters and soft family fluff. Of course don't let my focus on the Shiba Clan being cute take away from the exciting plot that it has. The fic takes place during of the arrancars' first appearances and creates a lovely AU of 'what if Kaien Shiba were alive and a Vizard?' The author's writing style keeps the reader engaged even in the calmer moments of the story, and works wonderfully to build up subtle tension as the threat of Aizen and his Espada approaches on the horizon.
