Matshepang
My mother called me asking me to come home for the weekend ,Basetsana had told her she is not happy with how much weight I had lost.
I told my mother that I don't want to come home.
My family hates Mpho, they just tolerated him because I loved him.Mpho has turned our marital home into his guest house,he brings a different women every night. I sleep listening to him have sex with them.If I say anything I get man handled.
It's been months now we been living like this.
I don't want to divorce him or move out.
I worked hard for this, for us.
I worked hard to just let another woman come to only feel the comfort.I catch him one morning before he leaves for work and for a change he didn't have another woman over.
"Mpho what have I done to deserve this? You come home with different women almost every night and I have to-""Matshepang the door is open, I told you what I want. And maybe one of these women I bring home will give me what you fail to do" he says and leaves.
His words knocked the life out of me,I was tired from all the crying. I was out of wine so I drove to the nearest Woolworths store .
I got a few bottles and stood in the que to go pay.
A lady stood behind me with a small basket in hand that had some cake. She greeted me and I greeted back." You might think holding on is the best option, but letting go is also a good thing" she says
"Excuse me" I ask her shocked at her words.
"Sometimes God and our ancestors remove us from a situation in the most painful way,not that they don't want us happy but sometimes what we think is happiness is only the tip of what happiness is,letting go doesn't make you weak." She says
I see she is wearing a beaded bracelet of red and white Colours and some goat skin on her hands. The cashier calls out for me and I pay and leave in a hurry.I get in the car shocked at the woman's words.
She knocks on my window and gets me out of my dais.
"Sorry I didn't mean to scare you,I am just a messenger " she says dangling her hand at me with a beautiful smile.
"It may seem as though your life has come to an end but it is just about to start" she says and walks to her Bmw.I start my car and drive back home.
Her words are playing in my mind.I get to the gate and put my finger in the biometric and it refuses me access. I try again and still to no luck. The guards by the gate asked what the problem was as they could see I couldn't enter I was annoyed. I tried calling Mpho but he didn't pick up. The security took my id number to see if I have access rights. Mpho had removed me.
"That piece of shit!!"I call him he doesn't pick up the security calls him and he tells them not to allow me in. I drive to his parents house. His sister is shocked to see me in this state.
"Matshepang, what's my brother done to you" she pulls me in a hug.
His parents are sitting down watching tv with the grand kids, when I walk in they kick the kids out."Matshepang my child what seems to be the problem " my father inlaw asks
"Papa Mpho has kicked me out, he brings different women home and no longer respects me" I say all at once.My mother inlaw laughs clapping her hands.
"En then Ester o tsega eng?" (Ester what are you laughing at?)We all looking at my mother inlaw.
" Thapelo tsaka di utlwagetse" (My prayers have been answered)she says leaving us buffled.
"Moloi o thought she can continue squandering my son's money without giving him kids" (This which ....)she claps once and continues laughing
"Se fedile setlare sa gao" (Her ritual has faded)she says."Ester na wa kenwa" (Ester are you crazy)Mpho's father says.
My lips trembling as my tears free flow off my cheeks .
My sister inlaw holds my hand tightly
