Sunghoon's phone crashing on the floor was the very least of his concerns today. In fact, it had crashed on the floor behind him, being completely abandoned as he rushed to the hospital. The only thing on his mind right now was you. You were his only priority. He couldn't waste a single second.
Sunghoon had received a voice mail alerting him that you had checked into the emergency room not too long ago. His heart sank to the floor. He felt his whole body succumb in anxiety. His thoughts were racing, almost as fast as he currently was to you.
He was given no details, so his mind had plenty of room for overthinking.
His breath began to run short as he slammed his way through the hospital entrance, causing a big scene. He demanded your location immediately, leaving the nurses behind in bewilderment. He didn't stop to take a breath until he finally appeared in front of you, glistening in sweat.
"What happened? Are you okay? Are you hurt? What's wrong-"
The questions came flooding in all at once, and you weren't even expecting him to be here right now, so to say it took you by surprise was an understatement. It hit you that he must've heard you were here, and not why you were here. You started to giggle.
"Why are you laughing..." Sunghoon looked completely and utterly lost.
You stretched your arms out toward him, revealing your bandaged hands.
"I just got a cut, I'm okay silly."
"How did you do that?"
"I was cutting vegetables for dinner and I got too confident. The knife slipped me unfortunately."
Sunghoon caught his breath,
"Oh my darling you're so clumsy sometimes. You have to be more careful."
Sunghoon gently held your hurting hands and looked into your eyes with sympathy.
"Does it hurt a lot?"
"Mhm." You shortly answered, looking to the floor, "They're getting ready to give me stitches."
Sunghoon tried to meet your eyes with his own again, but you kept avoiding.
"You'll be okay, I'll be right here. I'm here now. It'll be over sooner than you think."
Sunghoon wanted to distract you from the pain and the worry you were holding. He desperately wanted to comfort you.
"Shall I sing to you?" He knew you loved his singing. You asked for him to sing every time you were upset.
"Please" you exclaimed enthusiastically, meeting his eyes again, making him laugh.
And so Sunghoon began to sing the words to your favorite song. You would never get over the feeling of comfort it brought you every. single. time. It was forever unmatched. His singing reminded you of the exact feeling you felt every time he sang this song to you when you needed him most. It was a constant loop of reassurance. You never took it for granted.
He ran his warm fingers through your hair as he sang, resting your head on his shoulder. If you could die like this, you'd be happy to. You never wanted this to end. You closed your eyes as you listened, it was so easy to leave reality this way.
The doctors arrived at the scene and watched in awe for a moment before announcing their presence. As they began their minor procedure, you couldn't look. The needles made you feel sick to look at, so you kept your eyes on Sunghoon across the room.
He was just standing there.
He was there, just like he said he would be.
