Haven looks at Alyssa as they walk. Her friend seems so much older.
"Wanna take a detour?" Alyssa asks, locking eyes with her. Haven blushes. She smiles and dips her head.
Haven watches Alyssa mindlessly kick around leaves. She breathes deeply.
"Alyssa?" her friend turns. "I need to tell you something."
Alyssa runs over and stares at her. If only she wasn't so scared, if only-
"I like you. I've liked you for so long." she manages to blurt out.
Alyssa's eyes widen. Haven slowly puts her hands to her face defensively, ready to deflect blows.
None come.
Alyssa smiles.
Then she pulls Haven closer,
and finally,
they kiss.
It's not a long one. Haven sobs into Alyssa's shoulder.
"I-I thought you wouldn't like me back!" she sniffles.
"Don't be silly. I've always liked you," Alyssa smiles and pulls her into another kiss. Haven doesn't know how to react. She doesn't freeze up, though, but relaxes.
"I-I don't know how to act, I've never had a girlfriend before.." Haven smiles weakly.
"Just.. go with the flow!" Alyssa hasn't had a girlfriend before either. She thought she was straight until Haven.
The brunette grabs her hand and looks at her for approval. Alyssa nods.
"I can't wait to get home. My brother got Minecraft! He'll want to play with me. I'll be glad to have someone." she says, walking along.
"You'll be glad to have someone else to play with? What about Kit?" Alyssa turns her head.
"Oh, we don't play much anymore. She spends more time on Genshin Impact now, you see." Haven giggles, "Spending all her money on her cute little magic people."
"Do you want to get some food?" Alyssa feels like this is acceptable to ask. It's late, and Haven didn't eat much at lunch.
"Yeah! Can we go to that new pancake place?" Haven's eyes light up.
"Of course," Alyssa says.
