What will you wear? Who dated who over the summer? Who developed an eating disorder? Who suddenly grew boobs?

First day of school was always a mystery.

I was finally a senior though and in my prime.

As my mom likes to remind me, your 17, enjoy it while you look like this!

"Alana, your going to be late!" Speaking of the devil.

I'm surprised she even to remembered it was my first day of school. She was usually too caught up in work to remember what my schedule was like. I was used to being pretty independent.

Scanning myself in the mirror I nod my head and take a deep breath.

Yes, this is it.

My brown hair in waves, cascade over my shoulders. My green, slightly blue eyes are bright today thanks to some mascara on my long eyelashes. I decided on a black mini skirt and white lace crop top. Hopefully, I don't get a dress code violation. White nikes to top it off. My olive skin is tan, summer did me good.

"Alana!" Mom yells again from downstairs.

Ugh. Chill woman.

"I'm coming!" I grab my bag and head for the stairs.

"Pushing it on your first day I see." Mom says washing her coffee cup out in the sink and giving me a disapproving glare. I roll my eyes. She looks beautiful like she always does. Her short brown hair is straight and ends at her shoulders. She's wearing a navy pant suit, looking very realtor official.

" Mom we live like two minutes from school. I won't be late. And I'm surprised you even remembered today was my first day."

" Yes, well I did and here I am wishing you a happy first day of your last year in high school!" She cheers then looks down at her apple watch." Shoot, that's the Wagner's calling. I need to get this. Have a great day sweetie!" She picks her phone up and moves into the other room. Mom was a realtor. She recently sold the house across the street to the Wagner's, some family from San Francisco. I hadn't met them yet, but she said they had two boys around my same age.

I grab a water and yogurt and head for my car.

"Alana, there you are!" I slam my door shut just as Taylor and Alexis are walking away from their cars towards campus.

See, I made it with 5 minutes to spare before the warning bell will go off.

"Hey, sorry I'm late." I run up to them and Taylor passes me a coffee cup. "Thank you, you're a lifesaver." I take a sip and smile as the warm liquid fills my mouth. We usually met at Pines a couple times a week before school. They had the best coffee and hottest baristas.

"You look hot today, by the way." Alexis eyebrows go up and she is eyeing my skirt.

" Why thank you. You both look pretty great yourselves." We laugh and begin walking. Luckly, we had almost every class together this year. Except for last period, I was taking art, Alexis had ASB and Taylor had soccer.

"Hey, whats up ladies?" Miles jogs past us wiggling his eyebrows at us.

" Hey Miles." Alexis says, batting her lashes at him. I give a small wave.

" Ugh, no please tell me you are not still crushing on Miles." Taylor rolls her eyes and I laugh.

"I can't help it." She covers her eyes with her hand embarrassed and laughs. Alexis was shy, but so beautiful. She had been crushing on Miles since we were kids but he never seemed to notice her how she wanted him to. He was good looking, but he definitely had a reputation.
