The house is dark. Mom went out for drinks tonight and once again I am alone in this massive house by myself. I had gotten used to it for the most part. Nights were always tough though.

I think that's why I started running at night. I liked to get out of the house and just clear my head. I throw on some running shorts and a sports bra. My hair is pulled up and my headphones are in. I walk out into the warm night and stretch in the courtyard. I open the gate and am looking down at my phone when suddenly I have the feeling someone is watching me. I look up and leaning against an old black mustang is someone smoking a cigarette. I can see his lips move and I remove my headphones.

"Sorry, did you say something?" He inhales his cigarette again and slowly walks across the street till he is right in front of me. I can feel his eyes scanning my body and he cocks his head to side a little looking back at my face.

"I asked if you were stalking me?"

"Excuse me?"

"You know stalking? When someone is following you and watching you all the time."

"Yeah." I say slowly. Annoyed. "I know what stalking is thanks. And I am not stalking you. I live here." I point behind me to the house I just came out of.

"Well then, it looks like we are neighbors." He says again before taking a big puff of his cigarette. A small amount of humor shows on his face.

"Those things will kill you, you know?" I say crossing my arms over my chest disgusted at the smoke circling us.

"Yeah? Well so will the sun and a heart attack." He smirks and I roll my eyes.

Dick.

"Whatever." I say before moving past him and starting to put my headphones back in.

"Where are you going?"

"Running. Isn't it obvious?" I say before putting the second headphone in and drowning out anything else he says. I don't bother looking back at him. Yes, he was hot but he was also a jackass.

"Party at my place tonight, whose in?" Marcus is sitting on the steps at the wall and I am sitting on his lap. He was always throwing parties and to be honest I was over it.

"Already?" I ask rolling my eyes.

"Babe, we made it through first week of senior year. I have to have a party.

"You know I'm in." His best friend Jake slaps hands with Marcus. A few other guys in ear shot chime in too.

My eyes wonder as the guys are talking and I notice someone who doesn't quite fit in with our usual crowd. Liam is standing against the wall talking with a girl. Even from here I can tell how un-interested he is in the conversation. However, the girl is twirling her hair and batting her lashes at him. He hands her his phone and she types excitedly into it.

"Hey, new guy?" One of the football players yells over to him and he turns to look towards us.

"It's Liam." Liam says back without showing much expression.

"Yeah, Liam. You sell, right?"

" Some. Yeah."

"Can you hook us up tonight with weed? I can send you the address."

Liam looks around for a second before resting his eyes on me.

"How much do you need?" Liam asks still staring at me. I squirm under his gaze and I feel Marcus wrap an arm around my waist sensing Liams gaze. Liam looks back to the guy speaking to him.
