CAUTION: KISS OR KILL
CHAPTER ONE: THE DEATH OF HEATHER
FEAR STREET 1994 — ACT 01.1
"Shadyside, small-town America. But among locals, a history of horror has earned it another nickname, KILLER CAPITAL USA." The local female reporter of the usual morning news being watched by a woman in her 40s, Mrs. Smith, intently listening to the report and said, "Oh dear, this town isn't getting better and better every day."She glances to her back and her eyes met the tall and figure of her auburn haired son, who's cooking a simple eggs and bacons for breakfast. "This is what I've always been telling you, son. This town is no good for us." added Mrs. Smith before returning her attention to the tv monitor. "Even your Uncle Charlie can't seem to find a way to end this killings. Always standing behind Sunnyvale's sheriff."
Mrs. Smith scoffed, changing the channel of the tv. "Some Shadyside police he is, if I were Charlie I'd pack my bags and let that Goode man take over this case."
A sigh escapes his mouth. All could ever Tobias Marquez do every morning is to cook and listen to his mother's rants and complaints about the nonstop killings occurring and how it is a virus infecting Shadyside. Listening to her as she rants out of how useless her younger brother and Toby's uncle, Charles Fraser. He'll honestly admit his mother's words do struck a nerve or two to him and he's aware of how dangerous this old town is but hey, home's still a home if the people you love are around. Shadyside might be a place full of sickos but it has its good sides too.
Gotta love them while you still can.
Turning the stove off, he serves two plates full of bacons and eggs. "Ma, breakfast's ready." He called her out and the two residents of the Marquez household ate their hefty breakfast. Toby did all of the chores since his mother is busy with her job as a telemarketer. After washing the dishes, he ran up to his room and quickly changes to his favorite plain beige hoodie, topping it off with a corduroy jacket his father gave to him last year and simple skinny jeans and vans to finish it off.
His eyes landed to the calendar hanging beside his drifit black based team uniform with royal blue and white streaks on the sleeves. That's when he remembers. Today's the game day against the Sunnyvalers.
"Fucking hell..." Toby exasperatedly sighs.
Don't get him wrong. He doesn't hate football, hell, it is his dream to play in the big leagues someday. The reasons he hates today's match for it was against the goody two shoes Sunnyvalers. Every time they're up against the neighboring capital, something about Sunnyvale ticks him too well. He doesn't know if it was because of the obvious rivalry of two places or because Toby just hates them for no reason.
Packing up his football jersey with a number 14 printed behind it. He stares at it for a while, suddenly remembering the day he receive his uniform and how this number that was coincidentally given to him holds a significant meaning to the dark brown head teen. Hearing two honks outside of his house, Toby smirks to himself, shoving his jersey and couple of shirts before heading out of the Marquez residence.
Outside, his friend since middle school, Deena Johnson awaits for him along with Josh, her brother. Today happened to be one of those days when Toby's car broke down and he's too lazy to get it fixed up.
Toby grins ear to ear to his friend before sitting at the front seat, "My wonderful servants! Thanks for waiting my amazing arrival."
Deena rolled her eyes, clearly her friend's just being extra like how he always is but today she doesn't have the energy to play along with Toby's antics unlike Josh who chuckles to the older boy. Of course, Toby noticed how a bit foul Deena's mood is, well, scratch that bit-part.
