CAUTION: KISS OR KILL
CHAPTER TWO: SUNNYVALE SUCKS!
FEAR STREET (1994) PART 01 - ACT 01.2
Colors of blue and red filled the center part of the football field; Shadyside Witches on the left and Sunnyvale Devils on the right. In front of the crowd, Mayor Goode stood before them up on stage. Starting and giving his speech for tonight's vigil. The sun has already set and Toby could see the dim-lit stars up above as he listens to the mayor's words."This isn't how I wanted to be here tonight. I wanted to stand here as a fan." Mayor Goode solemnly says to the players, coaches and spectators. "Our Sunnyvale Devils and your Shadyside Witches throwing down some good ol' American football... Instead, I find myself here as a husband, a father, a neighbor and yes — Mayor of Sunnyvale."
Toby found himself standing in the middle of the ground, next to Kate of course. Deena next to the cheerleader and Simon slightly ahead of the trio as the continue to try and listen to the Mayor's words of compassion so to speak. Toby was listening half-assed or more like he didn't care at all. As harsh as it may sound but this vigil mass won't bring back Heather or the other victims of killings back in Shadyside. And so, he sees no point of this situation.
Down next to the left side of the stage, Toby managed to spot his uncle, Charlie Fraser, standing professionally. It's been awhile since he saw his uncle, so the teenager didn't expected to see Charlie here at the vigil.
"And on behalf of all the people in my town, I say all of Sunnyvale mourns with you."
Toby can't help but to scoff at his words, "Mourns with you, huh?" Toby looks around and saw how indifferent the Sunnyvalers act in this vigil. It made him pissed off a bit. "I wonder which bit of mourning he's talking about? Heather's death or the ones that looks like they are forced to be here?"
"Yeah, really looks like they give a damn." Kate agrees, "The only Sunnyvalers who came were the ones who had to. The football team and the cheerleaders."
Deena paid no attention to her friend's rant as her eyes continue to survey around the field looking for a certain person who she hopefully wishes to see. The curly heads gaze finally landed somewhere among the crowd and pause on her tracks as her eyes are filled with pain. Toby manage to see his friend looking over the Sunnyvalers only to witness his cousin, Sam Fraser, with someone new.
His eyes were thrown out to Deena who quickly walked away of the vigil. "Deena!" He called out.Toby feels bad for his friend. He leaned down to Kate's shoulder and said, "I'll be right back."
Confusion was written on her face, "Where are you going?"
"I'll just go and talk with Sam for a bit." Toby points over the spot where Sam is at. Toby sighs and decides to go to the right side of the field to talk to Sam. He grabs the football player's arm away from Sam's and plastered a sickly (not-so) sweet smile. "Hey there, can I steal her for a bit." It wasn't a question.
"What the fuck—"
"Yea, yea, yea. Save your swearing later, sunshine. You'll survive without her." He quickly held Sam's hand gently, casually walking themselves out of the scene. Still hearing who he assumes to be his cousin's lover saying lots of profanities as Toby took his cousin with him.
After couple of minutes of walking, he finally found a seclude place for him and Sam to talk at. He pulls her in for a longing hug and man, Toby noticed the changes physically. She was taken aback of her Toby's action but later on decided to give in and give back the same warmness to him.
"Man, I missed you so much, Sammy." Toby confesses, breaking their hug.
Sam giggles out of relief, "You know, for a moment there, I thought you're going to scold me or something."
