Chapter 4: Chasing Men in Black

"So, you we're saying that you're daughter is kidnapped by someone who was dressed in all black?" Kogorou questioned. "Yes." the victim's father, who was named Tani (I don't know his full name) replied. Apparently, a 10 year old girl was kidnapped around this afternoon as said by the family's butler, Aso. It is said that a man dressed in all black kidnapped the girl, Tani Akiko, who was just playing at their garden. "Ne, ne. Can you describe what the kidnapper look's like?" Conan suddenly asked, gaining everyone's attention. "Well, I couldn't really see his face but he was dressed in all bla- wait.." The butler started but stopped because he realized that the question is from a KID. Before Conan can ask more, Kogorou whack him in the head while saying, "Ran! I told you to keep an eye on this brat!". "Conan-kun! You should not interrupt Oto-san when he is working..." Ran said as she pulled Conan to her side. "S-sorry.." Conan apologized.

Meanwhile, on Y/n's side, she was thinking deeply about the case, while pacing back and forth, not noticing that she was about to go near a dog. As she went near, the dog suddenly barked, taking her out of her trance and completely scaring her and the other people such as Ran, Conan, Kogorou and the police. "Oh, this is Jumbo, he's our guard dog." Mr. Tani explained as he went to pet the dog's head. 'Something's....... not right..'  Y/n thought, and then it went to her, but Conan speak for her instead. "Say, the dog barks when he saw someone who's not familiar, right?" Conan asked, "Y-yeah.." the butler answered shocked by how Conan spoke. "Then, shouldn't it bark when the girl was kidnapped? because you said that the kidnapper jumped over the fence by climbing to this tree, which is where the dog is located at... " Conan again said. "W-well.." Aso started but none came out.

"That means.... it was you who kidnapped Akiko..." Y/n started. "W-what? what are you talking about?" Aso defended. "The should have barked when the young girl was kidnapped, but you, and the maids said that you didn't hear any noise, except, from the girls scream, of course." Y/n explained, but still felt uneasy and so is Conan. The CEO keeps asking why Aso had done it, but, someone called, and it claimed himself as the kidnapper of the girl.
