The twins were an absolute delight to the realm. When King Viserys first met them he threw a lavish feast, beckoning lords from every part of the continent. He was proud of his granddaughter and even prouder of his son.
To say the least— Aemond was not too happy with the extensive list of marriage proposals that had already gathered under little Alys's yolk. Aemma would coldly laugh as Jason Lannister offered her a place in Lannisport.
Aemond refused for his children to grow in the Red Keep. For it was riddled with enemies and dangerous people. He did not know the extent of Maegor's tunnels, nor the darkness that was held below the keep in the dungeons. He had asked for his father's permission to an estate on the outskirts of the city. It was near the Iron gate and Rosby road. It was a beautiful manse that had its own garden, gates, guards, and a clearing with a private beach.
Aemond did not think twice before moving his children and Aemma there. The council had grown even more greedy with their attempts to win over Aemma and Driftmark. Corlys Velaryon was still fighting the war at the Stepstones. A challenging feat that could be easily turned if Aemma swooped in with Seafyre.
When Aemma first entered the Manse she could see the intricate detail and history written within every carved stone. It was a Manse that was built out of love. Their home. A pang of guilt ran through her chest. Driftmark was supposed to be her home. She sat with Rhaenys as Baela played with a four moon old Laenor and Alys.
"They look like you, Aemma. They have your spirit. Perhaps Alys takes more after her father, but Laenor is just like you", she said, watching as Baela make contorted faces to the children as they laughed from their crib.
"And your husband has made a fine job in allocating you and taking you away from that cesspool of a city. One can never be too safe there", she uttered.
The manse was beautiful as it was big. The estate was guarded by iron gates which were guarded by men loyal to Aemond. The halls were white, and marble shone on every floor, making the bright sky shed light on every corner. The details and carvings had been a mixture of them— sea green and golden.
The first hall stood for small audiences or, as Aemond liked to call it, for all the fake shit that he would never let their children be close to. Beyond the first hall, a square of sorts surrounded a vast garden that was adorned with Driftwood trees and a quaint pond. The first room of the Manse was an archive, already built by the first inhabitants of the unused manse. Then the second room followed, each illuminating with the natural light that seemed to bask every corner of the house.
Closer to the center were their chambers. A melody of whites and sea greens that soothed the onslaught of tension that was brewing at the red keep. It only took a short carriage ride, perhaps an hour or two to reach their home. Perhaps two slaps of Seafyre's wings.
Seafyre was the first dragon presented to the babes. The she-dragon only watched, sensing that she too, had a job in protecting them.
Apart from that, there were six other rooms, two of which belonged respectively to Alys and Laenor, who would love to take strolls on the beach or look at the fishes in the pond of the main garden.
