Someone told me all pretty people die at 15. I don't think it's true. I'm 14 currently. School was fine. Average stereotypical Asian girl. Smart, plays an instrument, wears glasses, and of course "perfect."
"Hey!" My new friend of this year called. "You doing anything this afternoon?"
"No, not really," you said after a moment of thought.
"Cool see you after school then?" H/n walked away not letting me respond.
"Wait- what are we even gonna- never mind," I say as h/n walks away.
I continue to math class and eventually lay my head down. The teacher here can't even teach. I fell asleep and woke up to someone shaking me.
"Hey. Wake up," h/n whispered.
I got up stretched and packed up my stuff.
"Ready to go?" I question slightly tilting my head.
She just nods in response.
I follow h/n to where she wanted to go. She took me to a place in the park surrounded by flowers.
"If you were going to die where would you want to be buried?" She asked.
That's a weird question to ask, but I answer anyway, "probably here," I respond looking at the small stream flowing through the flowers.
"Why here?"
"Cmon now that's just a dumb question," I playfully hit her shoulder. "Do you not see this place? A cherry tree, a small stream, and the small lakebed."
I hear a flop on the ground so I lay down as well.
"You know tomorrows your birthday," h/n reminded me.
"Yeah," I sigh. "I don't like my birthday."
I looked at her and she tilted her head as if to ask why.
"Why?" I ask for her. "Well someone told me all pretty people die at 15 and they said I would die at 15. I don't believe it though have you seen me?" I chucked waiting for a response, but
H/n didn't say anything back. She just stared up into the air.
"Hey h/n," I say turning to my side to look at her.
"Yeah?" She turns to face me.
"Tomorrow I'll tell you something I have been keeping from you for a while," I promised h/n.
We stayed until the sun set and we hugged and went home.
I flopped onto the bed and immediately fell asleep.
"Morning sweetie," my mom called. "Happy birthday!"
"Thanks mom," I reply dryly.
I get up brush my teeth and hair.
"Mom!" I shout down the stairs. "Can I go see h/n?"
"Sure honey!" She responded.
"Thanks!" I replied heading down the stairs slipping my shoes on and heading out the door. H/n was already awake seeing as I woke up at 11.
I knocked on the door and h/n answered.
"Hey, ready?" I asked.
She nodded and followed me wherever I wanted to tell her my secret.
"H/n. I promised to tell you my secret. And this is it. I love you h/n."
"That's not a secret dummy I've known that!" She chuckled hitting my shoulder.
"No I mean. I like you. A lot." I clarified.
"I'm supposed to be giving you gifts," she replied before bringing me in for a kiss. "I have a secret too. I'm death herself."
I stood there dumbfounded.
"Oh and about the pretty girls dying at 15... how could I kill the person I love?" She said with a smirk.
"I-" I stutter unable to form words.
She pulls me in for another kiss and I don't think and just kiss back.
I can't believe the girl I like is death herself. And I can't believe the girl I like likes me back. Could my birthday get any crazier?
