Chapter 18 - Alexandria

"I'd like to talk to the person in charge. Rick, right?"

.... 2 days later ....

Aaron took us to this place called Alexandria. It's fenced in, has running water and electricity. Most of us were interviewed except me, my mom, Carl, and Beth. Daryl was interviewed but he didn't say a word. He's still having trouble trusting these people. We all are.

Deanna calls my mom and I in to interview us.
Deanna: Was it just you two in the beginning.
Me: No, my sister.
Mom: And dad. I loved that stupid wonderful man.
I give her a disgusted look. I hated that man with all my heart.
Deanna: What happened to them?
Me: None of your business.
Deanna: Yea. You're right. Next question, were you all friends before it started?
Mom: No. We met during.
Deanna: How did you know you can trust everyone?
Mom: We just did. They were kind enough to let us in and we did our parts and they did theirs.
Me: What's the point in this anyway?
Deanna: So I can know who you are and find a way to trust you.
Me: You let us in. We didn't come in on our own. You let us in.
Deanna: We asked if you wanted to come, you did. Are you good with guns?
Me: Yes.
Mom: No. I'm good at cooking and gardening. Deanna: You are free to leave now.

What is my mom doing?! I leave and go find Carl.
"Hey." He says. "Hi."
"How was the interview?"
"My mom is telling lies, Deanna is asking questions I don't want to answer."
"Want to come to my place and eat?"
"Sure, what are we having?"
"Salads."

We both head off to Carl's house.

"Have you met anyone that lives here?" I ask.
"Yea. Two guys named Ron and Mikey and a girl Enid."
"Oh." I say.
"There's nothing to worry about. I love you and only you."

He kisses me. "Want me to take you home?" He says.
"I'm too lazy to walk. I'll just sleep on your couch" I laugh.
"Okay." Carl laughs too.
