Every face has its place in the crowd

"I'm involved, dad."

"I know you are, Jules."

They'll give you all the answers, so you don't ask any questions

Concern was written on Charles' face as he looked at his son. His fingertips pressed into the top of his desk before he moved them to his forehead, through his hair. God, his crew had a clean sheet, and now his son does something stupid and messes it all up. The deal had gone horribly wrong, and Jules should have done anything but draw his gun and shoot somebody. It was a reaction out of fear, and inexperience, the Leclerc instinct in the twenty-five-year-old wanting him to do as good as his father.

"They're going to kill me, dad."

Then they'll march you with a smile into the ground

Charles knows how cruel this world is. There is no mercy. Not even when the mobster in question is a family member of another mobster. Nobody cares. It's an eye for an eye, blood for blood. There was still no fear written on his son's face. Hard, blue eyes looked back at him, fingers squeezed into fists, jaw slacked. Charles' eyes glided to the picture frame on the edge of his desk, his eyes reached his wife, Joanne, and his son, Liam, their daughter, Teresa. It was the picture he took in Amalfi last summer.

Charles looked back up at Jules.

"Then let them come."

And we all go to heaven in a little row boat

Hands wrapped around the holders of the guns. Magazines filled with bullets, clicking into the weapon. Steady fingers darted over the trigger. This is war like never before.

So put your hands up, put your hands up

So put your hands up, put your hands up

A/N: This is Abrade. A sequel to Corrode. Are you ready?

Welcome to the sequel to Corrode! I'm so excited to take you on a new journey of Joanne, Charles and their family. I imagine the kids to be in their twenties now, that would technically make Charles like 40-50 years old (he'd be a total dilf tho), but of course feel free to imagine whatever age you're comfortable with. In case you haven't read Corrode, I would recommend reading that book first as it includes parts and scenes that will be needed to understand parts of the sequel.

So, that's everything I wanted to say beforehand. I hope to publish a chapter every week or every 8-10 days, but I will not pin myself to a certain schedule because I'm too unorganized for that lmao. If you're here after Corrode, thanks for sticking with me and Joanne and Charles ♥️

WARNINGS: Future chapters will include 18+ content: sexual themes, suggestive themes, bad language, weapons, violence, mention of death, blood. This is fiction, and nothing should be taken serious when talking about Charles' life in this book. Nothing reflects reality and nothing regarding weapons, fights, sexual scenes, should be taken as educational. This story is therefore marked as including adult content.

Hateful, immature and racist comments towards others in the comment section or towards the author will be deleted. Comments that are harmful to the reading environment of this book will be deleted.
