I stand up awkwardly and Lorenzo looks at me pleadingly.
Draco juts out his wand to Theodore, and Theo jumps back. I quickly reach out and take hold of Draco's hand, the one holding his wand, and he looks at me. "I'm going to murder him."
"No, you're not!" Lorenzo yells, jumping in front of Theo. "Can you hit him across the head, or something? Knock him out?"
I hear Riddle laugh from behind me.
I struggle to pull Draco's wand from his hand, but I eventually do. Theo places his hand on my wrist, before taking Draco's wand from me.
"He's going to break it, you know. Right in half. My wand! He's going to break my wand!" Draco enunciates the last few words, his eyes widening with each one.
"Calm your ass," I start, and I hear Lorenzo gasp from behind me. I don't think I've ever sworn in front of him. "What colour did he try to dye your hair? It couldn't have been that bad, right?" I look at Lorenzo. "Right?"
He shrugs. "Just blue, nothing bad."
"It was not blue!" Draco cuts in.
"Yeah, it wasn't." Theo says, and I look over at him. I expect Draco to tell us what colour it was, but Theo does instead. "It was neon teal."
Riddle laughs loudly from behind me. I can basically feel him stand up, before his hand finds my waist. "They'll figure it out, this happens at least once a month." He pulls me closer to him, and rests his chin on the top of my head. "You're done now, right, boys?"
Theodore, Lorenzo and Draco all nod.
The Slytherin holding my waist quickly turns me, so I'm facing him. "My head hurts, will you come to my dorm with me?" I can't do anything but nod, and suddenly we're both walking the stairs to his dorm.
He opens the door, and lets me go in before him. I hear the door shut behind me as I stand near the door, looking around the dorm.
"Sit on my bed, or something. Why are you being weird?" Riddle asks as he walks into the bathroom, leaving the door open. I reluctantly move to his bed, and I sit on it.
I look over to the bathroom, and I can see the reflection of him taking his shirt and sweater off in the mirror. "I'm not being weird, it's just odd you asked me to come to your dorm with you."
After a few moments, he comes out of the bathroom, wearing the same pants he was wearing the other day. Only those pants.
"I wanted to make us seem more like a couple to people watching us." He shrugs. "And I wanted to talk to you."
Riddle looks concerned as he sits on his bed, leaning on the wooden bed post. "Earlier, in the locker room," I straighten where I'm sitting. He won't question why I knew the spell, right? "That spell, the one that stopped the bleeding, why did you know it?" For fucks sake, Riddle.
"I came across it in a book, a few weeks back." He doesn't look convinced. "Really, I did! But, uh... I've used it. A few times before, actually."
He leans forward, and I look down at my lap. "It's not a big deal, truly. Stupid eleven year old wizards, idiotic parents, all the basics." I chuckle, and Riddle tucks a strand of hair behind my ear. I feel my cheeks heat.
"What's that, about your parents?" His voice is soft.
I look back at him, picking at one of my nails on my left hand. He clearly expects me to say something, and I try to bring myself to it. "Thatcher?"
"Right, sorry. It's really nothing. I don't really want to talk about it right now." He just nods.
After a minute, Riddle brings his hand to my chin, gently supporting it. His eyes look down at my lips, and he starts leaning toward me. I think he is about to kiss me.
I'm not sure what came over me, but I lean into him too. Am I seriously about to kiss him?
Our lips are close to touching when the door swings open, and in comes Riddle's dorm mates.
I practically jump away from him, and he quickly pulls his hand away from where it was. I feel just about as embarrassed as Riddle looks. We almost kissed.
I know-it's just a kiss, who cares?-but it's also Mattheo Riddle. Sure, he's hot, but I once saw him dump three glasses of pumpkin juice on a kid for saying the word açai wrong. Who knows how to say açai?
I'm not sure the boys noticed, they're talking very loudly.
Riddle stands up quickly, wiping the corner of his mouth as if we had kissed. "What are you guys doing? Weren't you planning on staying up all night tonight?" He crosses his arms, and I think he's mad.
Draco and Lorenzo stand by the door as Theodore quickly walks over to his nightstand, opening the top drawer and taking something out of it. "You know that hot Gryffindor girl? I'm about to fuck the shit out of her."
Both Draco and Lorenzo burst out laughing. I can't help but laugh, too, when Theodore winks at me before leaving. The two other boys leave, too.
Leaving Riddle and I alone.
He turns to me, and I look down at my lap again. I feel him sit down beside me, only a few inches away. "I'm sorry, I don't know what got into me."
I almost look at him, but I'm not sure I could do it without touching him. "No, I... I didn't stop you, and you didn't do anything wrong. I probably should have told you to stop, anyway." Riddle's hand slowly runs down my forearm, ending at my hand.
I turn my hand to have my palm facing up, and he takes my hand in his. He pulls our hands to his lap, and he starts tracing my fingers with his second hand.
I finally let myself look at him, his jaw clenched and his eyes barely open. "Are you okay?"
He looks at me again, and his eyes find their way to my lips. "I wanted to kiss you." I nod, almost telling him that I wanted to kiss him, too. "I want to kiss you."
I think my heart skips a beat.
"Merlin, I think I have a concussion."
He chuckles. I do too, after a minute.
