It was Robert, ironically. Despite the unfortunate name, that's not the main issue. The real issue is that the head of Propel House caught me kissing another faean. Technically, there wasn't a rule against it. And besides, how could I have known about Ronin? Upon reflection, it seems it's not such a significant point after all. Lovely.

"Maybe if you weren't stalking us, you wouldn't have seen it," I snapped. "By the way, I that scene was worth $10. Pay up, boy."

He ignored me and Ronin wiggled his fingers into mine. It didn't quite sit right, so I opted for balling my hand in a fist and letting him hold my fist. It was a funny sight to see, but I wasn't going to give into this guy that fast, until I knew he only had good intentions with me.

"I thought I made it clear that-" Damian cut him off. I was actually starting to warm up to the guy. Of course, I would never say that to his face, but you know, more technicalities. He still came in third runner up to being my most disliked person.

"You never said anything about her hanging out with Ronin."

This man for sure read my thoughts. No doubt about it.

"Yes, but he's-"

"How was she supposed to know that? And once again, you didn't make it clear that she couldn't hang out with people that live in the Propel House."

Alright, it's settled. This man was reading my thoughts. I'm also glad other people's sentences that weren't mine were being interrupted but being broadcasted widely.

"Technically, he's not a people. A person, I mean. He's a thing, a creature, an it. And so is she."

I stepped up to him. "You know what, Inquirer? You're just a brat. Yeah, a brat. You're just jealous that you have no mythical powers."

He stepped back, and I knew that he found me intimidating in that moment. Silly Robert.

I stepped up to him, tugging Ronins hand with me. Well, more so finger. I had my little hand wrapped around his pointer finger, but that's beside the point. I was going to bask in this glory of bringing Robert down.

"In fact, I'm fairly certain you only became this, this Inquirer guy because you had a pretty face, not because anyone actually enjoyed you over the other runner up. You're a selfish guy that never takes other people opinions or voices into consideration. In fact, your face isn't even that pretty. You have a permanent look like you just ate something sour and stepped on a skunk. It's not attractive, so go fix yourself before you bash me and Ronin again."

Robert was speechless, red-faced, and started walking out of the room sputtering something about "kids these days." He looked like an angry mamma pig. Before he walked out completely, he hollered, "Hey Ambrosia, keep in mind that today is the day that determines whether or not we lock you up!" He laughed, and I guess the thought of me leaving made his day. What a cheerful guy.

I sighed.

And then tsked.

"One day, that man will become ruin. I'm calling it now. He will ruin himself and no one will ever want to be around him again."

"Honey, no one wants to be around him as it is for the time being," Ronin shared.

Damian sighed. "The only reason he became Inquireris because him and Penolope had similar ways of viewing the world. That, and the fact that he personally appointed himself."

Ronin ran his fingers up and down my arm, making me shiver. He smiled.

"Careful what you say around him though, he could end up taking that as a threat, mi amor."
