the peaceful silence of your room was comfortable. you laid under the covers, feeling too sluggish to even get up; but you needed to. slowly and sleepily crawling out of the warmth your cozy cocoon provided you; the cold but oddly comforting atmosphere of the rainy weather made you feel even more sluggish.

padding your bare feet across the hallway, memories of yesterday were forgotten. it was all buried in a haze inside your floating mind, and it all came back when you were greeted with the sight that your past self would've never expected.

kunikuzushi was standing in front of the stove, purple locks dishevelled. he was cooking something, breakfast (probably), and hopefully, enough for the two of you.

you froze in your spot, watching the peaceful but enigmatic grey-blue scene in front of you. strangely, even though you had never done this, him doing this with you felt so familiar and comfortable; for some reason, it even felt nostalgic.

as you watched him, he finally turned around. kunikuzushi froze for a few seconds as he saw you, and continued on with what he was doing. "oh. you're finally awake."

"morning," you mumbled lightly, voice rough. "what're you cooking?"

"whatever was it in your fridge. you need more vegetables,"

"heh, i don't really know too many ways to cook them." you sit on the chair, elbows resting on the dining table that was already prepared.

you watch him pour the finished product finally on a container, a smile subconsciously gracing your lips. "didn't know you could cook."

he plopped down on the chair in front of you, eyebrows raised. "well now you know."

he pushed the food towards you first, silently saying that you should be the one to first get a taste of his cooking. you smiled at him gratefully, taking a portion of the dish that he cooked.

while taking his own portion, his discreet side glances didn't go unnoticed by you. well, just like how it looked, it tasted really good.

"oh. you're a really good cook." you mumble, surprised. "you should stay over more often. i'll buy more vegetables for you to cook,"

"living with someone who can't cook ever since i was born probably honed these skills." he comments. scaramouche probably got out of the right side of bed, since he rarely opens up a topic about his mother. well, at least that was what you assumed.

but in reality, he just missed moments like this. you were the only one he could talk to about things like these; even if scaramouche didn't like people knowing about his unfortunate background, he didn't really have a choice with you now.

"pfft, letting ei inside the kitchen should be illegal."

he hums in agreement, relishing in your small chuckle. the two of you ate breakfast in your place on a cold, rainy day, quietly chatting as your stomachs were filled with the warmth of kunikuzushi's cooking.
