you fell asleep on the sofa, doing practice problems to prepare for your finals which were already coming in about a week.

you were so immersed in what you were doing that you completely lost track of time last night. right after you said goodnight to scaramouche, you just faced your work to try and shake off all your thoughts about the current situation between you, haypasia, and scaramouche.

you awoke to the sound of your door. half-asleep, you walked towards it on automatic to open it, not thinking about it too much. rubbing your eyes, you practically close them again once the harsh sunlight from outside blinds you.

in a short second, you suddenly hear the door getting closed and someone quickly jumping onto you and hugging you.

regaining your senses, it was kunikuzushi. he was tightly hugging onto your waist, face buried on the crook of your neck. warm and cozy, you couldn't help but also hug him back despite the jealousy you felt.

"good morning," you sleepily say, patting his head.

"morning," he mumbles quietly, voice muffled because it was pressed against your neck. "i... sorry, (y/n)."

it comes off as a whisper– genuine, soft, and sincere. he really couldn't say it to you up to your face, because of his ego and pride, but it was clear that he was trying.

"mhm." you hum quietly, just hugging him. you were rendered speechless; despite all the emotions you were feeling, you were, in that moment, unable to think of anything to say to him.

the morning didn't last long. after enjoying breakfast with him, he immediately had to leave to deal with his project, while you studied for your finals.

things were now okay between the two of you, but until the next day remained this tension that you two never brought up. but then again, maybe it was just you.
