(And Your Eyes look like Comin' Home)

Don't read if you plan on going to the Haunted Cave in Ohio, because everything described in the story happens in the Cave.

10000/10 recommend going there, btw

.......

Stephanie had always loved scary anything. She loved Scary Movies, Haunted Houses, Roller Coasters, etc.
Obviously, this made Halloween her favorite holiday.

The entirety of October was spent watching movies (the most recent one was the Purge, and that was a disappointment, in all honesty. If the characters weren't so stupid it would have been 1000% better.) and eating candy and drinking apple cider. She'd also been visiting as many Haunted Houses as she could.

And the next one on her list, while not exactly a house, was the one she thought would take the cake on which one was the best.

The Cave was said to be one of the best Haunted places in the US. Everyone who'd come out had always had various expressions on their faces, including fear, joy, and a mix between the two. One guy had even come out with a suspicious stain down his leg.

Obviously she had to go.

Obviously.

It was finally time. Time to go to The Cave.

She was ecstatic.

It had been a long drive, first to Ohio, then to where the Cave was located. But finally.

Finally,

She made it.

She hopped out of her car with a grin, zipping her leather jacket up to keep at the cold nip of the wind. Then she was off.

Having arrived so early, there were no lines, which was wonderful.

She passed over her money and smiled at the ticket lady, adjusting the cap on her head with a cheeky wink when she was handed the singular ticket.

She was so ready for this.

Let the scaring begin.

The mask was uncomfortable, but he could make do. It wasn't the first, nor the last time he'd wear it. He knew it would eventually settle and stop pressing against his cheekbones so harshly.

He was behind the scenes of the Cave, watching the first few people enter the cave with a grin. He had at least half an hour before he needed to get to his post. Might as well enjoy it by watching people get scared out of their minds.

10 minutes later, she showed up.

She was wearing a leather jacket and flower pants, her blonde hair cascading down her back in curls.
It was then he noticed the green, fraying hat she wore

Almost a carbon copy of the one painted on his wrist.

When she glanced towards the camera unknowingly, laughing as a zombie popped out of nowhere he began to let his heart fill with hope.

He might meet his soulmate tonight.

God, he hoped so.

Just in case, he scribbled quickly on a piece of paper, just in time for the beginning of his shift.

It was about the time she was crossing the creaky wooden bridge, the fog all around her, the only light guiding her being the glow stick around her neck and the faint, flickering lights above her head, that she realized this would be, by far, the best experience she's ever had.
