CHAPTER 20
"the lonely angel""UNO! I win!" Jungkook slams the card on the table fired with a competitive spirit.
"Damn again? How?" Hobi scrunches his eyebrows in confusion.
"Did you cheat Jungkook?" Yumi crosses her arms.
"No I didn't, y'all just suck at this game," Jungkook sticks out his tongue and Yumi does the same.
"Alright guys chill. How about we take a break?" you laugh at their competitiveness.
"I told Jia to join the hip hop dance team next year," Hobi or Hoseok says taking a sip of his drink.
"Really Jia, you're considering it?" Yumi jumps in surprise.
You really did enjoy dancing. It was one of your favourite hobbies and in fact your only one.
"Yeah I guess so," you chuckle.
"Maybe I should join too," Jungkook says as if he was also talking to himself.
"JKAYY~ you're actually quite good. I remember us dancing at Jia's party before," Hobi nods his head in approval.
"I guess I might then too," Jungkook leans back into the sofa smiling.
"So I heard you have a boyfriend Yumi?" Hobi asks.
"Yeah~ He's the bestest boyfriend! He's so sweet and sexy. He's also very-"
"OKAY~" you and Jungkook say at the same time stopping Yumi from going any further.
Hobi laughs at your reactions. "And you Jia, how's it with Jimin?"
"We're doing good," you shrug not having much to say. You hear a snort from Yumi.
"That's all you have to say?" Yumi laughs at your response.
"Why what's wrong with it?" you cross your arms.
"I mean Jia doesn't always share every single unnecessary detail of their private life unlike some people," Jungkook glares at Yumi and she rolls her eyes.
"Anyway if you were gonna ask me Hobi. There was this girl last night that came up to me and then we-"
"OKAY~" this time you and Yumi stop Jungkook from going any further again. Hobi laughs profoundly slapping the sofa.
"Seems like I'm not the only one that shares every single unnecessary detail," Yumi retorts back and you just laugh shaking your head.
.
"Thanks Jungkook, I appreciate it," you say closing the passenger seat door.
"Anytime, see ya around," Jungkook waves and drives off into the distance.
After hanging out at Yumi's place, Jungkook dropped you off at the university because you had to help organise other school events.
It's been about an hour setting up tables and chairs apparently for the debate competition hosted at your university. You turn to check the time which reads 5pm. Sighing you do a few more chairs with some signs and finally head home.
You plug in your airpods and play some music as you walk to the bus stop. A certain grumble could be heard over your music, you glance to see the dance studio light on. In curiosity, you walk to see the problem and only to find Jimin standing slapping his head in anger.
Worry fills your face as you rush to Jimin to stop him from whatever he's doing. All you know is that something is wrong.
"Jimin! What's wrong?" you stand in front of him holding his hands to stop him from hitting himself.
"Nothing is wrong, I'm fine Jia," Jimin says as if he's trying to tell himself that.
You scoff from his lie because you know there's a reason for his anger. You didn't wanna force it out of him so you intertwined your hands and dragged him out to sit at the secret balcony.
You both sit on the floor side by side, watching the busy city and cars that fill the road in silence. The sunset beams brightly as orange fills the city with the colourful luminance.
Your eyes fill with empathy and sadness as Jimin starts sobbing quietly into his hands. You pull Jimin into your arms and hug him. Your heart feels a whole different kind of sad upon seeing Jimin cry for the first time.
He continues to cry in your arms as you close your eyes feeling the coldness of the breeze starting to kick in.
"My parents.." Jimin mumbles in your arms.
"Parents?" you ask rubbing his back.
"My parents.. they finally divorced," Jimin sniffles quietly. What does he mean by finally?
You didn't ask anymore not wanting to trigger anything.
After about fifteen minutes, his crying died down. Jimin finally sits up and hugs his knees. "I guess it was about time they did."
You hugged your knees too and leaning your head against it while looking at Jimin.
"The past few years have gotten worse. My mother left the house a year ago and not until now they finally divorced. She said they were taking a break so I thought things would go back to normal but they didn't. I know my mother tried to keep everything together as for long as she could. My father became a workaholic always working on work than his family and his own wife. My mother lives in Busan so I can't see her often," Jimin says as if a weight was lifted off his chest.
You could see in his eyes that he felt like it was his fault. "I know things might now be the best right now but I can say from experience things do get better but just with time," you say with a lot of empathy.
Jimin tries to say something but was hesitant. You rubbed his back assuring him it's okay. "I know it's a lot to ask but my sister is flying in on Sunday after she heard. We're all going to have a dinner or probably the last one together. Is it okay if you come with me?" Jimin looked at you with teary and puffy eyes.
"Of course, I'll come with you."
You were surprised how Jimin managed to keep a cool face after years of going through that. When you thought your world was crashing down, his was too. He was like a lonely angel. You know how it felt, so you wanted to help him even if it's just a little bit. To show him that this is not the end.
