CHAPTER 27
"sleeping on mistakes"
You decided to sit outside doing study underneath the sun because you definitely need more vitamin d. The location on campus was beautiful because you were surrounded by the university garden. Maybe you should come here more often. Nature definitely helps you keep grounded.
Sitting on the bench you continue to type like your life depends on it until someone taps your shoulder. Your eyes finally fixate against the sun seeing Taehyung. Ever since that night you made it clear that you didn't want to talk to him or associate with him at all. But you didn't want hold a grudge for the rest of your life and plus you wanted answers which you never got. So it's about time.
"Come sit," you say and he sits nervously.
"Look I know you probably still hate me and you have the right to. I didn't come here to ask for forgiveness. I just wanted to explain what happened," Taehyung says straightforwardly and you nod at his response.
"I was half-drunk when I was with Yerin and obviously that's not an excuse. It was at Jungmin's party, the one you didn't go to. When I woke up the next morning, I decided to end it with you straightaway. As for Yerin she continued to be with Jimin. I didn't even know who Jimin was dating and how she looked like since this was all during high school. So by this time we weren't that close anymore," Taehyung honestly explains and takes a quick breathe before continuing. You continue to listen with a neutral expression.
"Anyway after I broke up with you, I felt like shit and so I continued doing shitty things. Soon later I continued to stay with her but we weren't a thing we were just playing around. This went on for a year. She apparently broke up with him after I 'broke up' with her. Anyway I didn't see her ever until she moved to our university. So I asked her why she moved here and she explained that her ex was here and she wanted him back. So I asked her who and she said it was Jimin. I was devastated hearing that, I didn't know her boyfriend was Jimin during that whole time," Taehyung looks down in shame.
"I knew I had already hurt you even though you didn't know it. I couldn't have her ruining your relationship with Jimin since around that time you had announced that you were dating him. So I played with her to stay with me. We weren't officially together and we never were. I just told my parents she was my girlfriend so they wouldn't ask anymore questions. That's why I took her on dates and shit to make her satisfied to stop her from coming onto you guys. But I couldn't stop her all the time and it was hard to keep her busy. I was gonna end it because I was getting exhausted and go find her some random guy to fuck around with. She's fucking crazy and that's why Jin was upset so I hope you don't blame him. He didn't know what to do anymore and he didn't want to see you hurt," Taehyung says with teary eyes.
You could see how much Taehyung regretted what he did. Of course it was no excuse and it did hurt you. But you did appreciate his efforts to help out but that didn't make anything better.
"I just have one question.. what we had was it ever real to you?" you say softly but full of curiosity.
"Of course it was real. I did love you Jia, I really did," Taehyung says genuinely as a year drops down his face.
"I'm so sorry Jia, you don't deserve any of this," Taehyung apologises.
"There was not a day that went without past that I regret what I did especially the first few months. I couldn't sleep on my mistakes.. I should get going then. Thanks for taking the time to listen," Taehyung gets up ready to leave.
"Taehyung—" you call his name before he leaves.
You take a deep breathe and look up at him. "I forgive you Taehyung," you say and he turns around eyes wide open in shock.
"Jia, you don't have to. I don't want you to feel forced to forgive just because I explained. In fact I didn't expect any at all," Taehyung looks saddened.
"I mean it Taehyung. I can see how much you regret it and you'll have to live with that for the rest of your life but I don't want to hold any grudges," you reply.
Taehyung's eyes soften. "Thank you Jia, really you deserve the whole fucking world, you really do," Taehyung says and it made you chuckle.
"I'd like to speak to Jin in person since we left on the wrong foot. Do you know when he's free?" you ask him.
"He's actually picking me up in an hour. Front gate. If you wanna wait until then?" Taehyung asks.
"Okay I'll see you guys then," you nod your head and he leads himself out of your proximity.

You've been hanging out with Yoongi, Yumi and Jungkook in the mean time and tell them about the events from earlier.
"What you just forgave him like that?" Yumi crosses her arms.
"I can't stay mad at him forever. I really don't care about him anymore and I don't wanna bring this useless grudge to my grave. It's not worth mopping about," you say and they all agree.
"Well if that's what you want," Yoongi says and you nod.
"Man I feel bad for Jimin hyung too, shit went down real bad. I think I'm traumatised from all this that I don't wanna date," Jungkook says and it made you all laugh.
"Sorry Jungkook," you laugh at his lowkey terrified face.
"Anyway I should get going, I'm gonna talk to Jin now," you wave goodbye and head out to the gate.
Walking to the gate, you see Jin and Taehyung standing by the car. "Hey Jia, I'm so sorry," Jin says and you give him a hug which surprises him.
"You have nothing to be sorry about you were just trying to help out. I was just upset when you told me and it's not about you anyway," you say giving a sly reassuring smile.
"Well I'm glad to hear that, I can't handle people being mad at me. Look you didn't have to forgive my stupid brother but thank you for you selfless kindness," Jin says and it made you chuckle.
"Of course, well then I should get going now," you say and walk off to the bus stop. Finally you could sleep in peace knowing that everything is solved. But there is one more thing deep down that you didn't want to address and it was slowly eating you away the more you put it off.
