The tortoiseshell She-Cat broke out in another coughing fit. "Sorreltail, hang in there!" Brackenfur buries his muzzle in SorrelTail's fur. "I need you." SorrelTail's breathing speeds up. "Brackenfur.. I.. Love you.." SorrelTail's Breathing slows. "Leafpool, do something!" Blood pulsed through the tabby's ears. 'She's in the paws of StarClan now.' Leafpool shook her head sadly, her eyes clouded with grief. "No!" Brackenfur ran out of the camp into the forest. He skidded to a stop at the lake. The stars loomed above him. "StarClan, please don't let this be so!" Brackenfur felt fur brush by him. He caught a whiff of SorrelTail's scent. 'I will be here, watching over you. Always.' Brackenfur laid down and fell asleep under the stars.
