Dance Prep

Later we are all eating breakfast and I am just messing with the twins as they try to steal my toast as I fend them off I have become good friends with the two of them.

"Look at this! I can't believe it she's done it again. Miss Granger a plain but ambitious girl seems to be developing a taste for famous wizards. Her latest prey sources report is none other than the Bulgarian bon-bon Viktor Krum. No word yet on how Harry Potter's taking this latest emotional blow," Hermione said reading a newspaper.

"She is using this tournament as her personal plaything just to get a story out of it," I said then a young boy walks up holding a package.

"Parcel for you Mr Weasley," The boy said.

"Thank you, Nigel," Ron said.

"Something else," I said.

"Not now Nigel. Later. Go on," Ron said as he sees Nigel gazing at Harry and Nigel leaves.

"Ron," I said demanding an explanation.

"I told him I'd get him Harry's autograph. Oh look mum's sent me something. Mum sent me a dress?" Ron said as he opened the box.

"Well it does match your eyes. Is there a bonnet? Ahhhhh ha," Harry said as he found the bonnet.

"Put those down Harry Ginny these must be for you," Ron said as he went to Ginny.

"I'm not wearing that it's ghastly," Ginny said.

Hermione laughs.

"What are you on about?" Ron said.

"They're not for Ginny they're for you! Dress robes," Hermione said and we all laughed.

"Dress's robes? for what?" Ron said.

Later that day we are all gathered in the assembly hall with McGonagall in the middle we are split on either side by gender there is also a huge gramophone in the centre.

"The yule ball has been a tradition of the tri-wizard tournament since its inception. On Christmas eve night we and our guests gather in the great hall for a night of well-mannered frivolity. As representatives of the host school, I expect each and every one of you to put your best foot forward, and I mean this literally because the yule ball is first and foremost... a dance," McGonagall said getting groans from the boys who are listening on. The girls seem a lot more excited.

"A dance huh well that will explain the dress robes," I said to myself.

"Silence. The house of Godrick Gryffindor has commanded the respect of the wizarding world for nearly ten centuries. I will not have you in the course of a single evening besmirching that name by behaving like a babbling, bumbling band of baboons. Now to dance is to let the body breathe, inside every girl a secret swan slumbers longing to burst forth and take flight," McGonagall said.

"Something's about to burst out of Hilary but I don't think it's a swan," Ron said leaning toward Seamus.

"Inside every boy, a lordly lion prepared to prance. Mr Weasly, will you join me," McGonagall said.

"This'll be good," I said as she grabs Ron and pulls him up to dance.

"Now, place your right hand on my waist," McGonagall said.

"Where?" Ron said.

"My waist," McGonagall said and he does so and a wolf whistle comes from the crowd.

"Now bend your arm. Mr Filch..." McGonagall said and then he starts the music.

"I wish I had a camera right now," I whispered to Hermione and she smiled.

"One two three, one two three, one two three, "McGonagall said as they danced around the room.

"Oi! Never gonna let him forget this are you?" Harry said to the Weasly twins.

"Never," The twins said.

"Everybody come together now," McGonagall said.

The girls instantly stand and walk forward, the boys are all still seated.

"Boys, on your feet," McGonagall said.

Neville stands and I turn to Hermione and offer her my hand and she smiles as she takes it we then start to dance and a few boys who do not want to end up dancing with another boy stand as well. A few days have passed now and a few of the people in our year have dates to the ball just like me and Hermione as we are going with one another and now Ron and Harry are getting worried.

"This is mad. At this rate, we'll be the only ones in our year without dates," Ron said we sit in our class Severus Snape walks past and slaps Ron over the head.

"Well, us and Neville!" Ron said.

"But then again he can take himself," Harry said and they share a snigger.

"It might interest you to know that Neville's already got someone," I said making Ron gasp.

"Now I'm really depressed," Ron said.

"GET A MOVE ON OR ALL THE GOOD ONES WILL HAVE GONE!" Ron said reading a note Fred gave him.

"Who you going with then," Ron said as Fred just right then and there pick up a girl a few chairs down with a wink.

"Nice one Fred," I said and he nodded to me

"Well Hermione, you're a girl," Ron said.

"Oh, well spotted," Hermione said.

"Come on. It's one thing for a bloke to show up alone. For a girl, it's just sad," Ron said and that pissed me off.

"I won't be going alone because believe it or not someone's asked me. And I said yes," Hermione said as she finished her work and left.

"Bloody hell," Ron said as Hermione stormed off.

"Idiot," I said to Ron

"Look. We've just got to grit our teeth and do it. Tonight when we get back to the common room, we'll both have partners. Agreed?" Ron said.

"Agreed," Harry said as Snape pushed their heads down.

A few days later and I am in the common room as Ron is being helped into the room by a few kids and Ginny, he looks shaky and has a shaken look on his face.

"What happened to you?" Harry said we get up to see what happened.

"He just asked Fleur Delacour out," Ginny said.

"What?" Hermione said.

"What did she say?" Harry asked.

"No of course," I said but Ron shakes his head.

"She said yes?" Hemione said.

"Don't be silly," Harry said.

"There she was walking by. You know I like it when they walk. I couldn't help it, it just sort of slipped out," Ron said.

"Actually he sort of screamed at her, it was a bit frightening," Ginny said.

"What did you do then?" Harry said.

"What else? I ran for it. I'm not cut out for this Harry. I don't know what got into me," Ron said as the Patil twins walk past.

"Hi, Harry," They said.

"Hey!" Harry said going after them.
