The Second Task

Later me and Hermione were with Harry on a bridge and he admitted that he had no idea what the second clue ment and what he had to do which was surprising.

"Harry you told me you'd figured the egg out weeks ago. The task is two days from now," Hermione said.

"Really? I had no idea. I suppose Viktor's already figured it out," Harry said.

"I wouldn't know, we didn't actually talk after that night at the dance neither I nor Jessica have had any interaction with him," Hermione said and I nodded.

"Yeah we're not exactly friends with him," I said.

"You are trying to figure this egg out aren't you?" Hermonie said.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Harry said.

"I mean these tasks are supposed to test you, in the most brutal way they're almost cruel. And um, I'm scared for you. You got by the dragon mostly on nerve, I'm not sure it's going to be enough this time," Hermione said.

"Hey Potter," Cedric said as he came up to us.

"Cedric," Harry said.

"Hey Ced," I said and he smiled at me.

"How are you?" Cedric said turning back to Harry

"Spectacular," Harry said.

"Look I realise I never really thanked you properly for tipping me off about those dragons," Cedric said.

"Forget about it. I'm sure you would have done the same for me," Harry said.

"Exactly. You know the prefect's bathroom on the fifth floor? It's not a bad place for a bath. Just take your egg and mull things over in the hot water," Cedric said and Harry nods.

"He has a gift for being very vague doesn't he," I said and Hermione chuckled into my arm.

Later that night Harry told us what happened in the bath and then he called us to the library to go over the clue and figure out what to do next and how.

"Harry, tell me again," Hermione said

"Come seek us where our voices sound," I said having heard it enough.

"The black lake, that's obvious," Hermione said handing the egg to a sleeping Ron

"An hour-long you'll have to look," Harry said finishing the last part of the clue.

"Again obvious, though I must admit potentially problematic," Hermione said.

"Potentially problematic? When was the last time you held your breath under the water for an hour Hermione?" Harry said.

"Look Harry, we can do this. The four of us can figure it out," Hermione said.

"Yeah you conjured a Patronus in your third year figuring out how to breathe underwater for an hour should be easy," I said in a mocking way.

"Hate to break up this scholar session but Professor McGonagall would like to see you in her office. Not you Potter, just Weasley, Granger" Mad eye said as he appears in the doorway.

"But sir, the second task is only hours away and..." Hermione said but Mad eye cut her off.

"Exactly. Presumably, Potter is well prepared by now and could do with a good night's sleep. Go. Now! Longbottom!" Mad eye said and Neville appears from behind a bookcase.

"Why don't you help Potter put his books back, you can help too Lupin," Mad eye said.

"Think I'll head to bed instead but he's right you should get some sleep, see ya in the morning," I said and gave Hermione a kiss on the cheek and head off to bed.

It is the second challenge and we are on our way to the black lake The Weasley twins are shouting, busy taking bets. Harry is walking along with Neville, he has some green plant life in his hand.

"You're sure about this Neville," Harry said as he takes the green thing.

"Absolutely," Neville said.

"For an hour," Harry said.

"Most likely," Neville said.

"Most likely?" Harry said.

"Well there is some debate among herbologists as to the effects of freshwater versus saltwater," Neville said.

"You're telling me this now? You must be joking," Harry said.

"I just wanted to help," Neville said.

"Well, that makes you sight better than Ron and Hermione. Where are they anyway? Jess have seen Hermione," Harry said.

"Not since last night," I said.

"You seem a little tense Harry," Neville said.

"Do I?" Harry said.

We get in the boats and then I get off and join the other Potter supporters as Potter is taken off to join the other champions by the edge above the water.

"Welcome to the second task. Last night something was stolen from each of our champions. A treasure of sorts. These four treasures, one for each champion, now lie on the bottom of the black lake. In order to win each champion need only find their treasure and return to the surface. Simple enough. Except for this, they will have one hour to do so and one hour only. After that, they'll be on their own. You may begin at the sound of the cannon," Dumbledore said over the loudspeaker as the cannon fired and the champions enter the water, three of them dive in while Harry is pushed.

"What's the matter with him?" Seamus said.

"I don't know I can't see him," Tomas said.

"Oh my god, I've killed Harry Potter!" Neville said truing around.

"YEAAAAHHH," Harry said as he flies into the air like a dolphin and the crowd cheered.

"The Beauxbatons champion Miss Delacour has unfortunately been forced to retire. She will take no further part in this task," Dumbledore said over the loudspeaker after about 10 minutes that was quick.

As time begins to run out Cedric and Cho emerge and the crowd cheers. Viktor and Hermione next, the crowd chants 'Krum, Krum, Krum'. The Beauxbatons girls look worried. I got the edge and pull Hermione out of the water as the others get her a towel and we share a kiss and then I hug Victor as a thank you witch, he returns understanding how me and Hermione feel about one another. Ron and a Beauxbatons girl come up, they are coughing but safe. They're helped out of the water by Miss Delacour. Harry then bursts out of the water and flies out and lands on the decking where the crowd are.
